00:00With tuberculosis cases on the rise, the Department of Health or DOH in Northern Mindanao is calling on
00:05Cagayanans to take an active role in the fight against the disease and urge residents to report
00:11individuals showing symptoms and encourage them to seek free treatment at local health centers.
00:17Gabriel Andres from the Philippine Information Agency Region 10 has more.
00:23As the number of tuberculosis cases continues to rise in the country,
00:27the Department of Health Northern Mindanao calls on Cagayanans to report individuals
00:32with TB symptoms and encourage them to seek treatment at local health centers.
00:38In 2024 alone, based on records from the Department of Health Region 10,
00:42nearly 6,000 were confirmed TB cases in Northern Mindanao,
00:47which could still be higher due to unreported or undiagnosed cases.
00:58Make sure that your neighbors, of course, if you live in a closed space,
01:04you can check up in the barangay to see if they have TB prevention.
01:18It's very important that if you have signs and symptoms,
01:22that you go to the nearest health facility.
01:33Testing and treatment are provided free of charge by the government through local health centers
01:38and has a minimum of six months and may extend up to one year,
01:42depending on the areas of the body affected by the disease.
01:46Guided by the theme Para TB ay Prevented, Get Tested, Para Pamilya Ay Protected,
01:52the DOH continues to strengthen its call for community participation
