00:00The Presidential Communications Office is now encouraging the existence of more strict regulations on social media platforms in the country.

00:08In the continuation of the hearing of the House Strike Committee today,

00:13PCO Secretary Jeh Ruiz insisted that in order for fake news and other misdeeds to enter the country,

00:20it is important for new policies to be implemented on online platforms.

00:25He needs to protect our countrymen against cybercrime,

00:29so the government should look at the consequences here.

00:34Ruiz insisted that there are already actions being taken on this issue.

00:40The issue of fake news, illegal gambling, deepfakes, pornography, hate speech,

00:48is the biggest fight right now of our generation.

00:51It destroys the very fabric of our society, and we have to protect our children,

00:57not only of fake news, but all these bad things that we see in this technology platform that we have.

01:06But more on the bloggers, we should concentrate our regulation on the platforms.

01:14The platforms like Meta, TikTok, YouTube, are foreign platforms.

01:22They do not have a base here.

01:24When you complain for these posts that we can take down, it takes a long time.

01:32So we have to focus on the platforms, first of all, to self-regulate them.
