00:00I had a fun night on the town.

00:01I went to the New York premiere of Tyler Perry's new movie,

00:05Duplicity, okay?

00:07I had such a good time at this movie.

00:09Oh my goodness.

00:10It was so good.

00:11And it was at the Museum of Modern Art

00:13right here in Manhattan.

00:15Now, usually when Tyler Perry has a premiere for his movie,

00:17it's usually at the Netflix theater over here in New York,

00:21which is a little bit more casual.

00:23So you don't have to dress up as much.

00:25So I was gonna wear some jeans

00:26and some cute boots with a cute belt.

00:28And Willie Sinclair III walked in

00:31and saw what I had on, and he had a fit.

00:34When I tell you, I specifically saw him clutch his heart.

00:38And he said, I picked out a beautiful outfit

00:40for you to wear to the museum for the red carpet.

00:43And I told him, I looked at the outfit.

00:45I said, I don't wanna wear it

00:46because it looked too old.

00:47And he said, oh, how so?

00:49You tell me how old, why it looks old.

00:52And I said, it looks like

00:53the mother of the bride kind of dress.

00:56And so Willie never gets snippy,

00:59but he looked at me, he said, well, I'm just telling you.

01:01You can wear whatever you wanna wear,

01:02but you're not gonna be known as a fashion queen

01:04wearing those jeans and the boots.

01:06I'm just saying.

01:07You know, when somebody goes, I'm just saying,

01:09you already know.

01:10So, you know, I've never seen Willie get snippy.

01:14And I don't wanna say snippy, but he was checking me.

01:17So he reminded me that it was a classy affair at MoMA,

01:21and I agreed to wear the outfit that he had gotten for me.

01:25That was the outfit that Willie had gotten for me.

01:28And it was very different from the jeans

01:33and the boots I was gonna wear.

01:35And when I tell you,

01:35because I was fussing the whole time,

01:37the paparazzi and the guests,

01:39everybody kept coming up to me

01:40and telling me how much they loved my outfit.

01:43And so Willie Sinclair III,

01:48I know you're back there watching me on the monitor,

01:50and I just wanna say,

01:52because I know you got the smug look on your face,

01:54you was right, Willie, you was right.

01:57And then, we were there at the premiere of Duplicity,

02:00and when I tell y'all, it happened again.

02:04I left my side tooth at home.

02:05Oh!

02:08So, and I'm not even gonna go into it,

02:09because y'all know, if you watch the Sherri show,

02:11you know I got a temporary side tooth,

02:12because I'm waiting for another four months

02:14for the bones to fuse and all of that

02:16to get my permanent one.

02:17And we've already named my side tooth Queen Latufa.

02:20So, I forgot the tooth at the time,

02:25and everybody said to me before I got in the car,

02:27they said, you got your tooth,

02:28where's Queen Latufa, and I didn't.

02:31So I had to show up at the red carpet,

02:33and I could only do a half smile,

02:35because when I get joyful, I go, ha ha ha!

02:38And you can see it, so I forgot,

02:40I forgot it before, and I went to the party

02:43for Gayle King that Oprah threw,

02:45and I forgot it for this show one time,

02:47and they had to go get it in a Uber,

02:49and then I forgot it now

02:51for Tyler Perry's classy movie premiere,

02:54because I didn't go back home to get it,

02:55and I was here at the studio.

02:57But here's the thing, so what was I gonna say?

03:00So I got it, and my assistant Edie,

03:03she said she was gonna go get the tooth,

03:04but we wasn't gonna have it in time.

03:06So it's not that big of a deal,

03:08because now I'm so used to forgetting it.

03:10But I did what I normally do,

03:12I got my signature closed mouth smile.

03:15So whenever y'all see that,

03:16whenever you see,

03:21because you know, when Sherry smile,

03:23you see a lot of teeth.

03:24So whenever you see this, you just go,

03:26Sherry done forgot her dag on side too.

03:27So, and then I took a picture with John,

03:33and because I wasn't smiling,

03:34it looked like we don't even get along.

03:38It looked like we had a fight in the car,

03:40because I was not gonna smile.

03:42But here's the thing, so I'm on the red carpet y'all,

03:44and you know when the red carpet comes,

03:45all the stars come later, you know.

03:48And if you're not a star,

03:49you gotta get to the red carpet early to get a picture.

03:51So I'm on the carpet, and I'm waiting for Tyler Perry

03:54to arrive, because I want a picture with him

03:55in my beautiful outfit,

03:57and all the celebrities were waiting around

03:59to take a picture with him.

04:00All the security, all of the cameras were there.

04:02But let me tell you this, I'm not new to this,

04:04I'm true to this, I already know.

04:07I have learned in all of the time

04:08I've been in this business, 30 years,

04:10that you gotta get a picture with the star,

04:13and you gotta be the first one.

04:16And here's what you do, as soon as the star shows up,

04:18you gotta be ready to run over to him immediately.

04:23So I was doing interviews, but I always had one eyeball

04:26waiting for Tyler Perry to come.

04:28And as soon as they said Tyler Perry arrived,

04:31and I was talking to people and telling what,

04:33you know, things that were on my mind,

04:35but I saw this man that was over six feet tall,

04:38and when I tell you, I ran and pushed everybody out the way.

04:42And I ran like the building was on fire,

04:44on that red carpet.

04:46I was moving so fast, Tyler Perry didn't even know

04:48who I was.

04:50He just saw this crazy lady with a missing side too.

04:54And when I tell you, I ran and I slid into Tyler Perry's arm,

04:59slid into his arm.

05:04Nobody, nobody got a picture with him first.

05:07And the stars of the movie, Duplicity,

05:09they was like, how did she get in there before we did?

05:11And I said, cause I slid into it, that's it.

05:15Cause if you stay ready, you ain't gotta get ready, so.

05:22And so, they're not showing the one picture,

05:25when I slid into Tyler's arms and he finally recognized me,

05:28he bent down and he put his head on mine,

05:30and you could see, that was a picture.

05:32When he found out it was me.

05:35And then as he was bending down,

05:37all I could hear was, where's your side too, Sherry?

05:41And so, Tyler Perry, I wanna thank you

05:43for inviting me to the Duplicity premiere.

05:47And Duplicity, I had so much fun there.

05:50It is streaming on Amazon Prime Video today.
