00:05of former presidents, hardcore supporters who demonize political opponents with manipulated

00:11photos or images, and even deepfake videos alongside hominem attacks online.

00:18And everyone not on their side is fair game.

00:21Tomorrow, the House Tri-Committee is all set to hold its third session or hearing on fake

00:27news, which invites handed out to a number of resource persons who shunned the previous

00:33hearings and may be at risk for contempt or detention as our Mela Lesmoras tells us.

00:42Several lawmakers have expressed alarm over the worsening spread of fake news and disinformation

00:47online, especially in the wake of former President Rodrigo Duterte's arrest.

00:52According to House Assistant Majority Leader Zalonto Adjong, the concerning issue is that

00:57even national security could be affected, making it timely to implement new regulations

01:02on social media.

01:04House Deputy Majority Leader Paulo Ortega shares the same sentiment.

01:56disinformation on the former president and the ICC are expected to be in the agenda.

02:02For her part, Gabriela Partili's Representative Arlene Brosas even elaborated some of the

02:07fake news she encountered, which she hopes to be raised in tomorrow's hearing and discussions.

02:41According to TRICOM Overall Chair Dan Fernandez, their third hearing is all set and will surely

02:57cover today's pressing issues in their agenda.

03:00If the vloggers and social media personalities they have summoned, including former PCO Secretary

03:06Trixie Cruz Angeles, still fail to appear, they may face contempt charges and detention

03:11orders.
