00:00A woman is dead and a man is fighting for his life in hospital after a two-alarm fire in this Flemington Park high-rise.
00:08Crews forced the door to the unit of origin.
00:11We're met with complete blackness, zero visibility and high heat.
00:16Toronto fire was called just before 3.30 p.m.
00:19And Chief Jim Jessop says a fire was discovered in a unit on the 21st floor.
00:24At the same time while rescuing the two occupants inside, another crew was able to knock down the fire.
00:29Paramedics say a man in his 50s and a woman in her 30s were taken to hospital in life-threatening conditions.
00:36Toronto police say the woman has since been pronounced dead.
00:39Yeah, it's very sad.
00:41Montaser lives on the 26th floor and says the smell of smoke filled his apartment.
00:46We stayed inside the apartment because the elevator was shut down and the stairs were full of smell.
00:54We could not breathe.
00:56Others heard the fire alarm and fled the 29-story building on Grenoble Drive near Eglinton Avenue and Don Mills Road.
01:03When we see into the corridor, I saw a lot of smoke.
01:06So we felt like something is happening. It's very dangerous.
01:11So we thought to come down, me and my husband.
01:13Chief Jessop says the fire did not spread to any other units.
01:17They managed the smoke extremely well.
01:19We've conducted our air monitoring. There is no risk to the occupants.
01:22And we have allowed persons back into the building except for, at this time, the 21st floor.
