00:33Many of his talking points center on the supposed unfairness of a trade plan that he himself

00:39negotiated, the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement.

00:44Trump's strange obsession with Canada seems to be driving part of this.

00:50Here in Minnesota's 5th District, we have a trade to the amount of $600 million of goods

01:00and services with Canada every year.

01:04This is nearly 6,500 jobs linked to our trade with Canada alone.

01:11Trump has openly suggested that his intent to hobble Canada's economy and force them

01:17into becoming a part of the United States.

01:20It should go without saying that this is absurd, an unacceptable way to treat an ally.

01:27Ultimately, consumers will bear the cost of tariffs.

01:32Tariffs are a form of taxes.

01:34They make everyday goods more expensive and reduce purchasing power and disrupt the supply chain.

01:42No amount of Trump lying to the American people will change that.

01:48The EU and Canada's response makes it clear that reckless trade policies have real consequences

01:55for working Americans.

01:57And there is a deep irony that the people pushing hardest for the tariffs right now

02:04once called themselves the Tea Party, which of course was a protest against taxes like

02:11they are now pushing forward.

02:14Last week, the EPA took extraordinary steps to roll back environmental protection and

02:21climate policies.

02:23This will lead to more deaths from asthma, heart disease, and toxic exposure.

02:29It will lead to the decimation of climate policies that have helped ensure the U.S.'s

02:35leadership in the transition to a green economy.

02:38It would lead to more devastating storms across the country and the world, and it will only

02:44delay a transition to renewable energy that will happen with or without our leadership.
