00:00What do you think about political courage when it comes to your own party?
00:03Because last week you said you voted against the continuing resolution to put some pressure
00:08on Elon Musk.
00:09We're talking about USAID cuts that were because of Doge and Elon Musk is the face
00:14of Doge.
00:15Do you think that Democrats who voted for the continuing resolution, do you think they
00:19aren't doing enough to put pressure on Elon Musk and the administration?
00:23Look, I personally disagree with that vote.
00:25Someone asked me recently, if you were in the Senate, Seth, how would you have voted?
00:30And the answer is very simple.
00:31I would have voted exactly the same way that I voted in the House on exactly the same bill,
00:37which is no.
00:38Now, you're talking to someone who's been willing to cross party lines to vote to keep
00:43government open in the past, including many times when it meant bailing out Republicans
00:48from their own extremists who wanted to shut the government down.
00:52But this is a different time.
00:54We need to do our duty in Congress and we have very few levers against this administration
00:59and the chainsaw that Musk and Trump are, is taking to this government.
01:04So we've got to stand up and this is a place where we can hold our ground.
01:07I disagree with Schumer and the Democrats who voted with the Republicans to bail them
01:12out.
01:13Their argument would be that then that chainsaw could run more rampant if the government was
01:18shut down.
01:19Was the government shutting down then?
01:21Would you rather see that?
01:23I never want to see the government shut down, but if that's what we need to do to force
01:27a negotiation with Republicans, because eventually, you know, they're in charge.
01:32Trump is in the White House.
01:34Republicans control the Senate and the House.
01:35They're responsible for keeping government open.
01:37So it would have forced a negotiation.
01:40And you know what?
01:41We might not have gotten much, but maybe we would have gotten something.
01:45And that matters right now when so many lives, so many jobs, and frankly, just the American
01:51economy is on the line with what Donald Trump is doing.
