00:00As I'm sure you know, they currently receive about $2 billion from the federal government.
00:03That's about 5% of the school system's budget.
00:07Do you have concerns about that?
00:08How does that impact how you're approaching the budget process for next fiscal year?
00:13And also, second question, have you settled on your next first deputy mayor appointment?
00:18When should we expect an announcement?
00:19Yes, yes, yes, we have and I want to thank Acting Interim First Deputy Mayor Camille
00:29Joseph-Volokh for just willing to step up and do the job.
00:34That's all, that's all.
00:35I've got to take my hat off to her.
00:36She's just like, where do I must do the job?
00:39What needs to be done?
00:40And we have an incoming, we're doing a vetting now and when it's ready to announce, we will
00:46announce it.
00:48The apprehension that teachers are receiving, listen, we've always been able to address
00:54whatever happens in Washington, D.C. to ensure our children are at the top of the list and
01:01getting what they need to be educated.
01:03And that includes with our Summer Youth, Summer Rising Program, our Summer Youth Employment
01:09Program, our Pre-K, our 3K, we've always stepped up.
01:13The real apprehension is not in what may happen, the real apprehension is what happened.
01:19$7 billion from the previous administration.
01:22And all of these people who are saying, why aren't we criticizing this president now?
01:27Why weren't they criticizing the Democratic president who saw $7 billion leave our city?
01:35No one was critiquing.
01:36No one was arguing.
01:37I was the lone voice of arguing about this and so we're going to manage the budget based
01:42on what we have in front of us and we're going to land the plane like we've always
01:45said.
01:46I say this every year.
01:47We're going to land the plane.
01:48Everybody tells me it's not going to happen.
01:50We do it every year and we're going to do it this year.
01:53How are you doing?
01:56Good.
01:57How are you, sir?
01:58Good.
01:59Good.
02:00Same to you.
02:02You see I'm rocking my green, right?
02:03I like that.
02:04The city council in February passed legislation.
