00:00This morning, we will visit the very first women's museum in the Philippines

00:05that gives a glimpse of the women's stories that are flourishing in our country.

00:10So let's go and see their colorful stories here in Tippie Trips!

00:20This Women's Month, let's get to know Tandang Sora

00:24and the many other women's stories that can be found in the new museum in Quezon City.

00:31Let's travel to Tandang Sora Women's Museum!

00:39Tandang Sora or Melchora Aquino de Ramos,

00:43but commonly known as Melchora Aquino,

00:45is one of our heroes during the time of the Katipunan Revolution.

00:50Tandang Sora served as an inspiration for this museum,

00:56especially her love for her fellowmen, her service, her courage,

01:04and most importantly, her great love for our country.

01:08She said that if she were to have her own life,

01:12she would do it for the country.

01:15In our history, or in our story,

01:18there is a lot of information about women.

01:23Just recently, we heard about Gabriela Silang and Tandang Sora.

01:29Aside from that, of course, their contributions are very important

01:33and they are not only funny, but they also inspire us.

01:37There are many other women who are not recorded in the history of our country.

01:43Upon entering, it feels like home.

01:46It's like the house is present in their warm welcome.

01:49But the story doesn't start inside the museum.

01:53Let's first go to the tomb of Ginang Melchora Aquino.

01:59Here, ma'am. What is this, ma'am?

02:01This is where the story of the life of Ginang Melchora Aquino is recorded.

02:06This is where her remains from Himlayan Filipino

02:10were transferred to the Tandang Sora Memorial Shrine.

02:13So basically, this shrine is the main attraction.

02:21You can see in the sculptures in the tomb

02:23the detailed history of the life of Tandang Sora

02:26from her birth and the story of her bravery in helping her fellow Filipinos.

02:31At the age of 84, she opened her house for her fellow Filipinos.

02:37She was the one who took care of the Filipinos during the Spanish occupation.

02:44Let's go inside the museum.

02:50At the entrance of the museum, someone will immediately ask you who you are.

02:54This is the sculpture of Ms. Sandra Turijos,

02:58who was named after her great-great-grandmother.

03:02In the first floor, you can see the collections and works

03:05that were inspired by women who showed spirituality

03:10and belief in the God of nature in the early days.

03:14Here, you can also see the voice of a woman

03:17that contains messages of a woman from different sectors of society.

03:24On the second floor, there is a memorial wall

03:27that contains words, events, and names from the past.

03:33It also contains the history of Filipino women

03:35from the beginning of the revolution until the modern era.

03:40Women's struggle during the Japanese era,

03:44women's struggles in the field of courage and strength,

03:47singing, and politics,

03:49and it also contains the different kinds of clothing and equipment

03:53that show the life and legacy of Tandang Sora.

03:56Her goal?

03:57Yes.

03:58So that we can share with our countrymen and the whole world

04:02that this is what women did.

04:04We are not lost in the story of the Philippines.

04:07We are not lost in the struggle, in helping each other.

04:11We are always there, right?

04:13So we need to give credit or give a story to women.

04:21During Arts Month and Women's Month,
