00:00The first FIT Tournament in the Philippines was officially opened for the year 2025

00:06where 100 paddle players from different countries will compete.

00:15This is the first time that the International Paddle Federation of FIT

00:21and the Philippine Paddle Federation of an International Paddle Tournament in the Philippines

00:27The first FIT Tournament in the Philippines was officially opened for the year 2025

00:32where 100 paddle players from different countries will compete.

00:38This is the first time that the International Paddle Federation of FIT

00:45and the Philippine Paddle Federation of an International Paddle Tournament in the Philippines

00:53I'm very excited that we're hosting another International Tournament here in Manila

00:57The first one was held in November

00:59So we'll be expecting a lot of top players in the world here in the Philippines

01:04So hopefully, these top players from the Philippines will perform well

01:08and hopefully, the results here in the tournament will be good.

01:12Some of the famous Filipino paddle athletes will also be there

01:15Zoleta Sisters, Bambi MPN, Fritz Verdad and Brycil Libau

01:19Coach John Michael Tamayo and Deo Talatayud

01:22Meanwhile, the winner of the tournament will receive 7,000 euros

01:27or equivalent to almost half a million pesos.

01:30At a press conference held yesterday in BGC

01:33Elena Don, founder and president of the Philippine Paddle Association, said

01:37that this competition aims to help athletes in their FIP ranking points.

01:44Part of FIP Bronze Street Manila's program actually is like

01:48to give opportunities to our Philippine paddle team

01:52to be able to gain international ranking points

01:55and also to get international exposure.

01:58This is going to be the first time of some of our players playing an international tournament

02:03and they will face levels that they haven't seen before.

02:08The participation of amateur and professional Filipino paddle players

02:13in the tournament will also increase

02:15so that the sports of paddling in the country will be more known.

02:19One of the most important things to remember is that

02:22until the community in the local area is really into paddle

02:29then that's the point when we can introduce an international level tournament.

02:33Now, the first day of the International Paddle Tournament will take place

02:37which will last until March 23 here in Taguig City.
