Italian PM Meloni hosts EU-US talks on trade, Ukraine and defence

Leaders from the EU, Italy and the US met in Rome on Sunday to discuss trade, defence, and Ukraine. Ursula von der Leyen called for increased defence investments in the EU.

00:08and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Rome on Sunday.
00:13The discussions were aimed to help trade talks progress between the U.S. and the EU.
00:19Vance called Europe an important ally even though they had some disagreements.
00:25Europe is an important ally of the United States.
00:31The individual countries within Europe are important allies of the United States.
00:34But of course we have some disagreements as friends sometimes do on issues like trade.
00:39Meanwhile, von der Leyen said she hoped it could mark a new beginning in transatlantic relations.
00:46She highlighted the significant trade partnership of more than 1.3 trillion euros per year between the two,
00:54calling it the largest trade relationship in the world.
