00:00Mr. Alistair, what brings you to Belmoral?
00:03Well, because of course it is the premier agricultural show in Northern Ireland.
00:08It's a gathering of all that's best in terms of agriculture.
00:12To celebrate that and to see the progress that's been made in the industry.
00:18Because of course it is our primary and founding industry.
00:22And when farming prospers then the economy prospers.
00:27So it is key to all of that.
00:29And of course it is a time of flux.
00:32As it has been since we were left behind during Brexit.
00:37Under the EU's customs code.
00:39Imposing a border in the Irish Sea.
00:42And subjecting us to the ridiculous rules of their single market.
00:46Which of course has impinged upon agriculture.
00:48As it has upon all consumers.
00:51So that is always a lively issue.
00:54And one which I suspect will be in a renewed focus with the proclaimed reset.
01:02That is supposed to be coming when I fear the government is going for the whole United Kingdom.
01:07So I would rather roll over to become a rule taker in respect of the EU rules.
01:12Well, when it comes to today.
01:13Is there anything in particular you've got your eyes on?
01:17Well, meeting with constituents and farmers from across Northern Ireland.
01:22It is always a good opportunity to talk to people.
01:24People are always eager to talk.
01:26And to see what is on their minds.
01:28Because as a politician you need to know what is on your constituents minds.
01:32If you are going to be an effective voice for them.
01:35So I always like to engage.
01:38And this is a glorious opportunity to do that in the most glorious of weather.
