00:00Are you struggling with chronic anxiety?
00:03You feel stressed out, your mind's racing, your heart is pumping, and you don't know
00:09why?
00:10It might be because your brain is stuck.
00:13In this video, I want to share with you how anxiety actually is a complex chronic condition
00:20and how it has a lot of working parts, and especially how you can rewire your brain so
00:26you no longer feel those anxious feelings from inside, but instead, you can thrive instead
00:32of survive.
00:33I'm Dr. Trish Lee.
00:35Welcome back to Heal Thyself.
00:37This channel is designed to help you overcome the big 5A health crises that are taking people
00:46by storm across the world.
00:48Anxiety, attention issues like ADHD and ADD, autoimmune disorders, arousal dysfunctions,
00:56air quality illnesses that contribute, and also addiction.
01:01So if you're struggling with any of those, you're in the right place.
01:05Let's get started.
01:06So in this video, I want to talk about anxiety and what it actually is.
01:10People think that anxiety is a psychological issue.
01:15It's actually a neurological issue that plays out in psychology, but also in the body.
01:24So anxiety is a dysfunctional or dysregulated brain performance pattern.
01:31Essentially, it's one of too much fast speed in the brain.
01:35That fast speed keeps the mind going, and it makes you feel anxious, uncomfortable.
01:42It leads to strain in the nervous system.
01:44It may lead to drinking or more screen time to put that fire out in the brain.
01:50But it's neurological, not just psychological.
01:54So when I help people, I try to take a whole person approach so that you understand that
02:01it is a neurological problem that is playing out in your mind and your body.
02:07It's also a spiritual problem.
02:10That's why I asked in this video if anxiety is crushing your soul.
02:14Anxiety takes you off purpose.
02:17It takes you away from the creativity at your core that would feed your soul and help your
02:24spirit feel well.
02:26There's a saying that if you're dispirited, then you have anxiety and fatigue.
02:31When you're inspired, that fatigue can go away in an instant.
02:36I want you to get back to the creativity, the thing that you love to do little by little
02:41so you're no longer dispirited and feeling anxious.
02:45Instead, you're feeling inspired to rock out your best life.
02:50But if your brain is stuck in that neurologically dysregulated pattern, it can be really difficult.
02:56That's why understanding that at the core of anxiety is neurological dysregulation, it can
03:02be the beginning of setting your brain free.
03:06So what can you do about it?
03:09One strategy that you can use is when you have negative thoughts or you feel overwhelmed, know
03:16that they are coming from that fast brain speed.
03:19That brain speed leads to rumination, vigilance, hypervigilance, you're on red alert, and it
03:27gives you a heightened stress response.
03:30It's called sympathetic dominance.
03:32It means your brain is stuck on and you're actually in problem seeking mode.
03:38So if your brain's running really fast and everywhere you look, you see a problem, some of it may
03:45be coming from you.
03:46And I say that without judgment, as a woman who has recovered from the five big A health
03:53crises due to toxic mold poisoning, it comes without judgment, but it does come with empowerment
04:00because those thoughts aren't yours.
04:03Those are the thoughts of a dysregulated brain.
04:06So your second strategy is to realize these ants, these automatic negative thoughts can be
04:13converted into positive thoughts.
04:15And yes, it's a fake it or make it strategy, fake it until you make it strategy, but it
04:21works.
04:22When I was the sickest that I was, I had so many affirmations going because those ants would
04:29come in every day.
04:31I felt fear.
04:32I felt afraid.
04:33I didn't think I'd ever get better.
04:35I was feeling depressed.
04:36And if you know me, I never feel depressed.
04:38I felt stressed out all the time.
04:41And then as a cruel joke, all of that stress led to me no longer having a stress response.
04:48My brain recalibrated to this high level.
04:51I was always on red alert and I never knew I was.
04:54A funny thing, well, kind of funny thing that used to happen is that when I would begin to speak
05:00when I was sick, my husband would pet me.
05:04You could imagine how that went off, went over to the anxious brain.
05:09But now I look back and I said to him the other day, I understand why you were petting me.
05:14As much as it irritated me now, I said to him, you stopped petting me.
05:18Why did you stop petting me?
05:20And he's like, I don't know.
05:21And then I realized he stopped petting me because my brain came down a long time ago.
05:27Anytime I spoke, it was intense.
05:30I just didn't know it because my brain was up here at a much higher level of intensity.
05:37Basically, fight or flight all the time.
05:39And I was in fight or flight mode all the time because of the toxic nature of my environment.
05:45But when I took care of the toxicity and I healed from within, I was no longer in the
05:51autonomic nervous system dysfunction at the core of the anxiety and the autoimmune disorders that I had.
05:57Autonomic nervous system dysfunction.
05:59ANS dysfunction happens when your brain is stuck in that anxious, hypervigilant mode for too long.
06:07And it actually changes the way that all of your cells activate.
06:12It's called mitochondrial dysfunction.
06:15It changes the way that neurotransmitters cascade.
06:18It changes the action potential in all of your cells.
06:22The mitochondria you might remember from science class is the powerhouse of the cells.
06:27Well, the powerhouse is being short-circuited because of all the anxiety in the system.
06:33I use neurofeedback to bring that anxiety down.
06:37When I realized I was sick and that I had ANS dysfunction and that's where the anxiety and
06:42the stress was coming from, the heightened stress response, then the no stress response,
06:46I doubled down on neurofeedback.
06:48Very quickly, my brain came back down and I was able to get back to business of healing.
06:54So, if you're looking for help, please go over to YouCanHealThyself.com.
07:01Download the six-step guide that walks you through the six steps that I use to heal
07:06because I want you to be able to do it so much faster and easier than it took me.
07:12I can tell you the five steps here, but please go read all about them.
07:16Step number one is you have to assess not only your environment, but your within.
07:22Assessing and evaluating your full situation is imperative.
07:26From there, you can make a solid plan.
07:30The plan should have the steps that unfold in order.
07:34If you go out of order, you can have bigger problems.
07:38Trust me, I know.
07:40The order is that after you assess and you plan, it's imperative that then you detox.
07:48You detox your environment and you detox your nervous system, your cells, your whole body and mind.
07:56When you detox, then you can move on to balancing.
08:00Actually, those two are done simultaneously.
08:03Once you detox and balance, then you can move on to strengthening.
08:07What I did is I tried to strengthen before those two.
08:12It led to some big problems and you know what it did?
08:15It set me way, way, way, way back.
08:18That is not what I want for you.
08:19Once you strengthen, then it's the time to stabilize.
08:23Within each of those six steps, there's micro steps and I know exactly how to help you do them.
08:29Please go over to YouCanHealThyself.com, download that guide, it'll help.
08:34So here's what I want you to recognize.
08:36Anxiety is a neurological dysfunction that plays out in the mind and the body as the anxiety that you feel.
08:45It's real, but it's coming from your brain.
08:47It leads to autonomic nervous system dysfunction that then leads to a hypervigilant state that then short-circuits your cells and can create mitochondrial dysfunction.
08:57After that, the people in your world might start petting you or might not want to be around you.
09:03I know how that feels.
09:05It has happened to me.
09:06But recognize that you can use advanced technology in neuroscience to assess the autonomic nervous system dysfunction in your brain and then make a plan to use that technology to rewire your brain while you're using the six-step plan to take care of the comprehensive nature of complex chronic conditions.
