00:001027 VGS.
00:02All right, here's what you need to know today.
00:03Obviously, I mean, we've been getting some pretty good rains over the past five or so
00:06days.
00:07Loved it.
00:07It's great.
00:08Now, you're in the Northwest.
00:09You guys have not really gotten as much rain as everybody else.
00:11Not as much as everybody else, no.
00:13But like yesterday, it sprinkled for, or it rained, not hard, but it rained for a while.
00:18Yeah.
00:19And that's like the first time, the longest that it had rained.
00:22Congratulations on not getting flooded.
00:24Yeah.
00:25Or losing your roof.
00:26I know.
00:26It's pretty bad.
00:27Some people we know.
00:27I know.
00:27Good Lord.
00:28Gosh.
00:29Pretty crazy out there.
00:30Now, here's the deal.
00:31Southwest, Henderson, Nellis area.
00:33Those are the three places.
00:34It's very strange, kind of spotty.
00:35But those are the places that got the most rain in the valley.
00:38And every time it rains, there's always the, well, you know, it's good.
00:41We need to fill up Lake Mead.
00:42Yeah.
00:42How much did it fill it up?
00:44How much do you think that Lake Mead, inches wise, went up?
00:47Like two?
00:49Three.
00:50Really?
00:50Went up three inches.
00:51Wow.
00:51Yeah, three inches over the past five days.
00:53That said, though, not really a huge dent at all.
00:56Those three inches will be gone in a few days.
00:58It's melting snow in the Rockies, responsible for at least 95% of the water that's in there.
01:04So.
01:05Wow.
01:05Pray for snow in Colorado.
01:07Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:07That'll be good.
01:08Interesting.
01:09Okay.
01:09Yeah.
01:09The more you know.
01:10Clark County School District.
01:11They're still on a hunt for teachers and drivers.
01:13We are a week away from school getting underway.
01:16There are 1,450 jobs for licensed and certified professionals on the Clark County School District
01:22website.
01:23They say that there will have a licensed teacher in 91% of classrooms, which is not 100%.
01:30Right.
01:31Yeah.
01:31And then school bus drivers, another issue there.
01:33Only 90% of scheduled routes will have a school bus driver right now.
01:37So if you want a job and you have any skills.
01:40I feel like the past, like, three, four years, people are like, we need bus drivers, folks.
01:45We need to get these kids to school.
01:46Yeah.
01:47Oh, gosh.
01:48I don't know.
01:49We really got to start thinking about, like, maybe paying the teachers.
01:52I, you know, I know we have some teachers.
01:53I've done the, like, I've done the research.
01:55We are third worst, I think, in the nation as far as, like, the amount we spend per student.
02:00I think it's Idaho and, like, maybe Utah's behind us and that's it.
02:05Yeah.
02:06We have to do better.
02:08There's so much money coming to the city.
02:09Yeah.
02:10Speaking of money in the city, oh, my goodness.
02:11A treasure hunt happened here in Las Vegas over the weekend.
02:15Really?
02:15Yeah.
02:16There was this thing called the Great U.S. Treasure Hunt.
02:18They go all around the United States.
02:20You can sign up for free to take part in this treasure hunt.
02:24Okay.
02:24It's super fun.
02:252,000 registered players.
02:27They're on the search for a special coin.
02:30And one guy named Tony, he's from New Jersey, he found that coin under a bench at Sunset Park.
02:35Uh-uh.
02:35Really?
02:36Yep.
02:37The coin got him $1,000.
02:39That's it?
02:39$1,000.
02:40I don't know if I'd be making the trek across the country for $1,000.
02:44That's a lot of work for $1,000.
02:45That's a lot of work.
02:46Uh, he's the first to ever win the search twice, and the search continues on to Los Angeles next weekend, uh, then Austin, New York, and Asheville, North Carolina.
02:55Wow.
02:55I mean, I love a good treasure hunt, but $1,000.
02:57This is not enough.
02:58You know, and did he fly here from New Jersey?
03:01That's what I'm saying.
03:01Like, what the heck?
03:02Just a thrill.
03:03Maybe he's just, like, retired and bored.
03:06No, he's young.
03:07Okay, well.
03:08Maybe he's van-lifing.
03:09He needs a friend or something.
03:11The friend is the treasure.
03:14You know, we don't make you work very hard for $1,000 here.
03:16No, not at all.
03:18Matter of fact, we make it stupid simple.
03:20Arguably too simple.
03:21Yeah, seriously.
03:23I think it is too simple.
03:25But we don't make the rules.
03:27It's easy for our BGS listeners.
03:29Say the word farficknugin when we tell you at $7,000.
03:32Wow.
03:32Somebody does that.
03:33I will reach it in my pocket.
03:34I'll throw in another hundred.
