00:00I've been walking for over 500 days now and you know, you've got to stay hydrated when
00:05you're walking as much as I am and body armor hydrates my walks.
00:10You know I've been using body armor and it does not have as much sugars as those other
00:16sports drinks and is now the official sports drink of the New York Mets and you can get
00:22body armor at 7-Eleven and anywhere where sports drinks are sold.
00:28So when you see body armor, choose better, choose body armor.
00:46The Mets crashed and burned in the late 70s.
00:51They had called Shea Stadium Grant's Tomb.
00:54The farm system was not good but they got a big boost in 1980 when they chose Dallas
01:03Strawberry with the number one pick in the MLB draft.
01:08Three years later as the Mets were finally starting to show signs of life, Dallas Strawberry came
01:11up and won Rookie of the Year and became a face of the Mets franchise over the next eight years,
01:20becoming the franchise all-time leader in home runs and was a key part of the 1986 championship
01:25team.
01:26Should have been the MVP of 1988 NL season and of course he's had his up and down in life but
01:34he's turned things around, he's a revver now and he's an inspirational figure and one of my
01:40all-time favorites and I'm looking forward to this walk.
01:47How's it going?
01:48How's it going?
01:49I told you I'd take that one.
01:50I'd like a hug.
01:51How you doing man?
01:52I told you I'd make it.
01:53Yes.
01:54You like that huh?
01:55Oh yes.
01:56Oh the retirement ring, I guess that is.
01:57Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:58I love these colors man, you look good.
02:00You get the 86 t-shirts.
02:01What do you know about 86?
02:02You're too young.
02:03He's too young to know about 86.
02:04What do you know about 86?
02:05I was 10.
02:06Okay, you 10.
02:07I was, in fact the World Series ended a couple weeks before my 11th birthday.
02:10Okay, for your 11th birthday.
02:11But we got it for you, didn't we?
02:12Yeah.
02:13Yeah.
02:14Yeah.
02:15Yeah.
02:16Yeah.
02:17Yeah.
02:18Yeah.
02:19Yeah.
02:20Yeah.
02:21Yeah.
02:22Yeah.
02:23Yeah.
02:24Yeah.
02:25Yeah.
02:26Yeah.
02:27Yeah.
02:28Yeah.
02:29Yeah.
02:30Yeah.
02:31And I'm still waiting for that second one.
02:32Oh, he's a real.
02:33I know.
02:34You know what the right one is, don't you?
02:36Almost the right one.
02:37I used to do the lo-fi.
02:39You're the lo-fi.
02:40All right.
02:41Sammy Falazzo.
02:42Bobby Valentine.
02:43Yeah.
02:44One guy, I remember that.
02:45He used to come around.
02:46Bobby Valentine was a high five.
02:47Yeah.
02:48Buddy Harrelson.
02:49Buddy Harrelson.
02:50Buddy Harrelson was like the TV TV manager and everything.
02:51How you doing?
02:52How's your day?
02:53I'm doing all right.
02:54We've been looking forward to this.
02:55Of course we've got some body armor here.
02:57What are you out?
02:59The new official sports drink of the next is body armor.
03:02Oh, all right, man.
03:03Look at that.
03:04Strawberry banana.
03:05Yeah.
03:06No artificial dyes.
03:07Now, be truthful to me.
03:10Is it good?
03:11Oh, yes.
03:12It's true.
03:13It's better.
03:14I said strawberry banana, but I don't know if it tastes good.
03:15What do you think?
03:16It tastes natural.
03:17It tastes natural?
03:18That's the best part about it.
03:19You like the natural things.
03:20Yes.
03:21Man, you're the coolest guy.
03:22You know, I'm so glad I've been following you.
03:24Still, thanks.
03:25I've been really following you and really wanted to meet you and really wanted to hang out
03:29with you.
03:30Thanks.
03:31This was a special day for me.
03:32Thanks for having me.
03:33Yeah.
03:34It's walk 569, one of the years Mets won appropriately enough.
03:41And let's go for a big walk.
03:43Let's do a big walk.
03:44Let's do it.
03:45You ready?
03:46Yes.
03:47Yeah.
03:48I appreciate you having me with you.
03:49Let's do a walk.
03:50Let's do it.
03:51It is.
03:52You're responsible by it, right?
03:53So that's how it helps us.
03:54And also now the official's whole thing to the Mets.
03:56The sports thing to the Mets.
03:57It is?
03:58Yeah.
03:59I didn't realize that.
04:00No more Gatorade.
04:01Go to City Field to get body armor.
04:03Body armor instead of Gatorade, huh?
04:05And if you look at On Deck Circle, they actually have a body armor added by the On Deck Circle
04:10this year.
04:11Do you like these?
04:12Yes, I do.
04:13Do you drink them daily?
04:14Yes, I do.
04:15Actually, my favorite is fruit punch.
04:18That's my favorite.
04:19I like fruit punch too.
04:20I'm with you on that.
04:21I mean, strawberry banana sounds good.
04:22You got to start drinking that.
04:23You brought this to me.
04:25Tell me about your big baseball fan and how did you become that?
04:28How did you become a big Mets fan?
04:29We just passed the 40th anniversary of my first Mets game.
04:34Yeah.
04:35The first Mets game I attended was April 12, 1985.
04:44Mets against the Reds.
04:46Yeah.
04:47Was it a day game?
04:48Night game.
04:49Okay.
04:50Gary Carter hit a home run.
04:51Uh-huh.
04:52Final score was 1-0.
04:53Yeah.
04:54Bruce Bereni got the win.
04:55Bruce Bereni.
04:56How about that?
04:57And Pete Rose got three hits.
05:01The great Pete Rose, huh?
05:03Yes.
05:04Charlie Hustle, right?
05:05So I saw three of his hits.
05:06Yeah.
05:07The fact that Pete Rose got the hit.
05:10Carter hit the home run.
05:11Carter was off to a big start that year.
05:13He sure was.
05:14He was off to a great start.
05:16What do you think about Carter?
05:17I thought he was the key to us.
05:18Yeah.
05:19Winning the championship.
05:20Getting him.
05:21I'm hoping the Juan Soto pickup is a similar situation.
05:25Yeah.
05:26We're coming off a turnaround season, like 84 is a turnaround season for the Mets.
05:31Right.
05:32And then they got Gary Carter at 85.
05:35Right.
05:36And something similar happens.
05:39Well, you got to start off with 83 when we got Keith.
05:41That was big too, yeah.
05:42Yeah.
05:43That was the biggest turning point right there when we got him.
05:46Well, that's when the Mets sent the signal that they're not playing games anymore.
05:51I remember being shocked when that trade happened.
05:53Yeah.
05:54I was eight and I was shocked.
05:56Oh, no.
05:57It was unbelievable, right?
05:581983.
05:59He said.
06:00Hernandez.
06:01Yeah, actually seven.
06:02I was seven that year.
06:03Huh?
06:04You were seven that year?
06:05Yeah.
06:06My birthday's in November, so.
06:07Yeah.
06:08But I remember that trade and it was like, the Mets got Keith Hernandez?
06:11Yeah.
06:12Yes.
06:13I'm growing up.
06:14I'm five, six years old and the Mets are in last place every year.
06:17Yeah.
06:18I mean, that's what I grew up remembering.
06:21Well, remember.
06:22And then.
06:23He had to make a decision.
06:24He had to make a decision if he was going to stick around and stay too.
06:27Oh, very.
06:28How you doing, man?
06:29Hey.
06:30He had to make that decision if he was going to stick around and stay and play with us.
06:33Yeah.
06:34And then 84 was the year they actually contended, so.
06:37Right.
06:38Right.
06:39And I remember the top sticker books came out that year.
06:43The top sticker books, huh?
06:45Yeah.
06:46They got me into card collecting.
06:48Remember those cards?
06:49Remember that?
06:50The top sticker book, the cards.
06:51Remember that?
06:52Yeah.
06:53The top sticker book had Dwight Gooden on the cover that year.
06:55Yeah.
06:56And it was like, you know, the Mets are becoming this exciting team.
06:59I'm nine.
07:00It's my first year really, really, really, really daily getting into baseball.
07:05Right.
07:06And that was the 85 season.
07:07Yeah.
07:08For my opinion, and I don't know if it's a popular opinion or not.
07:14Give it to me.
07:15Give me your opinion.
07:16Of course you won the World Series in 86.
07:18We won the World Series in 86, yeah.
07:19Won the division in 88.
07:21Won the division in 88.
07:23You would have had, if the wild card was around back then, you would have made the playoffs
07:26every year 84 to 90.
07:28Yeah, but we lost in 87 because our whole pitching staff went down.
07:32Yeah.
07:33That was the reason why we didn't win in 87, because our whole pitching staff got hurt.
07:38Most people don't know.
07:39We won in 86.
07:40Yeah.
07:41We dominated in 86.
07:42We had an even greater team in 87.
07:44We came back and we lost that whole pitching staff.
07:47One by one got hurt.
07:49And that left us crippled that year.
07:5285, for my opinion, 98 and 64.
07:55Lost the division by a couple of games.
07:57Yeah.
07:58That team.
08:00Which one?
08:0185.
08:0285?
08:03We won 98 games.
08:04Yeah.
08:05I think that team is as good or almost as good as 86 Mets.
08:11Yeah, but we lost to the Cardinals.
08:14Yeah, but you had 98 wins.
08:1698 wins.
08:17I missed seven weeks.
08:18Yes.
08:19And that's my point.
08:20You tore your thumb.
08:22Tore my thumb.
08:23It was against the Phillies.
08:24It was a Saturday afternoon game.
08:25Made a play by Juan Samuel.
08:26Hit a ball.
08:27NBC gave it away.
08:28You remember that.
08:30And that seven-week stretch, the Mets played terrible baseball.
08:35And if you take that seven-week stretch out, and you still won 98 games.
08:40We still won 98 games.
08:41That's why I think the 85 team is as good as the 86 team.
08:46I agree.
08:47And I don't know if a lot of people realize it.
08:50That team means it to me is almost as much as the 86 team.
08:55That was the beginning.
08:56Yeah.
08:57Yeah.
08:58The 85 was the beginning when we got Carter.
08:59And of course, like good was untouchable.
09:01He was untouchable.
09:02But Carter was the missing piece.
09:03Yes.
09:04We needed that right hand bat in the lineup because we already had two left handers in
09:08the lineup, myself and Hernandez.
09:10We needed that right hand guy in the lineup.
09:14And Carter was that missing piece in 85 for us to come.
09:17That's why we won in 86.
09:19But you know when we lost in 85 against the Cardinals, our last game in St. Louis,
09:24our locker room was quiet.
09:26Nobody said nothing after the season was over.
09:29You had a three-game series.
09:30Yes.
09:31Ken Daly hit that off the light after you got the clock.
09:34Yeah.
09:35We crushed it.
09:36I broke the clock.
09:37They called us a bunch of pawn scums in St. Louis.
09:39Yeah.
09:40And guess what?
09:41I live in St. Louis now.
09:42Yes.
09:43I know that.
09:44I heard that.
09:45St. Louis.
09:46Yeah.
09:47I remember you were talking a couple of years ago to Keith and Hernandez.
09:48Who is it?
09:49Yeah.
09:50We were pawn scums.
09:51I love that line.
09:52Yeah.
09:53Like I said, that was like, you're in the booth with Keith and Hernandez.
09:57And you said, yes, we were pawn scums.
10:00We were a bunch of pawn scums to them.
10:02To them.
10:03Well, at least in St. Louis.
10:04They hated us like that.
10:05They didn't like us.
10:06But that's okay.
10:07Blame for ourselves that year in 1985.
10:09Oh.
10:10So, Craig, you got to tell them the 88 World Series.
10:12Now, 88.
10:13Of course.
10:14That one.
10:15That's that.
10:16That NLCS really.
10:17Why you got to bring that up?
10:18I don't like talking about 88.
10:20We're never supposed to lose to the Dodgers.
10:22No.
10:23We never should have lost that one.
10:24Yeah.
10:25Blames me for watches.
10:27They say they lost because I watched it.
10:29No.
10:30I don't.
10:31That's not to blame on you.
10:32The blame is on David Cohn.
10:33Remember he.
10:34Oh.
10:35He wrote that article.
10:36Oh, idiot.
10:37Yes.
10:38And Tommy posted it in their locker room.
10:39That they were.
10:40I mean.
10:41That they were a bunch of little league.
10:42You got to Oral Herschizer in.
10:44Game one.
10:45Game one.
10:46Yes.
10:47David Cohn.
10:48Yeah.
10:49Yeah.
10:50Yeah.
10:51Typical.
10:52Typical media guy.
10:53He's an ESPN.
10:55Hi, David.
10:56I'd like to welcome you, too.
10:57Yeah.
10:58We're welcome.
10:59That's my boy, though, David Cohn.
11:00No, David Cohn.
11:01I like David Cohn.
11:02He was a great pitcher for the Nets.
11:03Yeah.
11:04But, yeah.
11:05Too much talking.
11:06And then.
11:07In that series.
11:08You won game three.
11:09Yes.
11:10Game four is the one that haunts me.
11:11Mike Sosa?
11:12Yes.
11:13Yeah.
11:14How did he hit that home run off dock, right?
11:15Yeah.
11:16A lot of pitches.
11:17How did John Shelby walk?
11:19A lot of pitches that he threw.
11:22And I always wonder if he brought in Myers for the ninth.
11:26Yeah.
11:27You would have been a 3-1.
11:29Turn out the lights.
11:30Party's over.
11:31Party's over, right?
11:32Ball game over.
11:33I think the Mets win that game.
11:35Game eight, game four.
11:36Party's over.
11:37It's over.
11:38Yes.
11:39I agree.
11:40The Dodgers weren't that good.
11:42They just got lucky.
11:43Let me try the strawberry banana.
11:45Since you brought it for me.
11:46You said it's good.
11:47I'm going to take a sip of this.
11:48You taste it.
11:49You already said it wasn't your fault.
11:51Did you accept that?
11:52I accept that.
11:53It just.
11:54It wasn't, Frank.
11:56We, listen.
11:5788, we choked.
11:59Yeah.
12:00I say it all the time.
12:01We shouldn't have never ever lost to the Dodgers.
12:03There's no way.
12:04We gave that up.
12:05I wish nothing against.
12:09We went into a game seven and I wish Davy Johnson had pitched Sid Fernandez.
12:15Sid was like really lights out.
12:17He started Darling in that game and nothing personal against Darling, but I thought Sid was
12:21a better matchup against the Dodgers in that game seven because he wouldn't be so tight.
12:27Let me put it this way.
12:28I like Ron Darling too, a great announcer, great pitcher for the Mets.
12:34Some of his performances in the postseason.
12:37What?
12:38I mean.
12:39They were tight.
12:40Yeah.
12:41Game three.
12:42NLCS.
12:43You bailed him out.
12:44The three-run homer.
12:45Yes.
12:46Off of Nepper.
12:47Three-run.
12:48Yeah.
12:49Three-run homer.
12:50Yep.
12:51That game tying three-run homer and that set up.
12:53I love it.
12:54Look at Frank got memory like me.
12:55You know, we remember all that.
12:57That set up Dykstra for the Herodes.
13:00Exactly.
13:01And two days later, before you even got to Houston for that epic game.
13:06Yes.
13:07The pitchers duel against Gooden and Nolan Ryan.
13:10Oh, unbelievable, right?
13:11The best?
13:12Might be one of the most underrated games in baseball history.
13:15You had Nolan Ryan, Dwight Gooden going extra innings 1-1 and doing a 1-1 to Bet Scott with a homerun.
13:22By me off of Nolan.
13:23Yes.
13:24They were going toe-to-toe.
13:26Can you believe that?
13:27I mean, we're talking, I mean Dwight Gooden's NLCS.
13:31I mean, everyone talks that he pitched 40 in the World Series.
13:33Yeah.
13:34Dwight Gooden's NLCS.
13:35Come on.
13:361-1 in each game was life out.
13:39Thank you, Frank.
13:40At least you have some common sense to know that.
13:43I mean, a lot of people always like gripping because he had a bad World Series.
13:47But his NLCS was outstanding.
13:49They don't know how hard that was, right?
13:51Yeah.
13:52They don't know he probably was out of gas.
13:53You know, he threw so much in the National League Championship Series, you know?
13:57He allowed one run in each game, got a loss and then no decision.
14:01Unbelievable, right?
14:02Yeah.
14:03In those type of games like that.
14:05And Jesse Orozco.
14:06Oh.
14:07Gets overlooked.
14:08Yeah.
14:09I understand he gave Mike Scott the NLCS MVP.
14:12But Jesse Orozco won three games in the NLCS.
14:16Three games.
14:17No one's ever going to win.
14:19Probably no one's ever going to win three games in the NLCS ever again.
14:22Right.
14:23And Jesse Orozco should have been the NLCS MVP.
14:25Right.
14:26You're right.
14:27Hey.
14:28How you doing, buddy?
14:29Yes.
14:30Oh, yeah.
14:31See?
14:32You're sharp as a cookie, man.
14:35Most people don't even know that.
14:36They just say, well, how did the Mets lose?
14:38They never got a chance to actually sit down and watch those teams play.
14:43You got a chance to see that.
14:44So you tell me your insight about those teams.
14:46And I watched it.
14:47I've watched that You'd Remember video like about 159 times.
14:52Yeah.
14:53Also, Frank, what happened in the 1964 World Series?
14:57Well, that was a seven-game series won by the Cardinals against the Yankees.
15:01Oh.
15:02He knows it all.
15:03Yeah.
15:04The Cardinals, huh?
15:06Who did they have?
15:07Bob Gibson and all those guys?
15:08Yeah.
15:09Bob Gibson pitched game seven.
15:10I think he pitched against Mel Sotomayor in that game.
15:15Oh, you did, huh?
15:17So tell me how your walking has been.
15:20I at one time weighed 520 pounds.
15:23Yeah.
15:24I got sick with MRSA to get under, like, that was 2016.
15:33Uh-huh.
15:34Then after I got MRSA, I kind of dropped a little bit.
15:37I guess I had to.
15:39But I was still fluctuating over 400.
15:42Right.
15:43I lost some weight around 2018.
15:46The pandemic, I shot back up to 469.
15:50Yeah.
15:51And, uh, I lost a little bit of weight over the next couple of years.
15:55But then I was 383 when I really started this walk regimen.
16:01And, uh, now I'm about 312.
16:04312, man.
16:05That's incredible.
16:06And, uh, I have more energy.
16:08I, I, I, I, uh, in 2015, I couldn't walk 100 feet without getting wind in.
16:14So this is really therapeutic for you, huh?
16:16Now I'm walking two, three hours.
16:19I've been averaging 20,000 steps this week, which is about eight, nine miles.
16:26That's really good, Frank.
16:28That's really, you're challenging yourself.
16:30You're pushing yourself in a good way.
16:32And you're becoming more than you thought you can be, didn't you?
16:35Oh, it's incredible.
16:36And, and which we got people like Aaron, uh, uh, who's lost a lot of weight.
16:42Another guy did, uh, there down in South Florida.
16:44We got Dan in Milwaukee.
16:46Yeah.
16:47And we got, uh, Don, who's a, uh, got stage four cancer.
16:51Yup.
16:52And, uh, he's been inspired by my walks and he loves my walks.
16:55And it, it helps him find, uh, the key to battle this cancer.
16:59Yeah.
17:00Of course, uh,
17:01Exactly.
17:02Don, uh, you broke his heart in, uh, 86.
17:05He's a Red Sox fan.
17:06Broke his heart?
17:07Oh, he's a Red Sox fan.
17:08Okay.
17:09But.
17:10I know.
17:11I told him, what is he doing around here with that Boston stuff on?
17:14This is New York, man.
17:18You know.
17:19Well, Celtics are going to be tough this year.
17:21Well, of course the Celtics are going to be tough.
17:23What about the Knicks?
17:24You know, they're going to be hopefully right there.
17:27Yeah.
17:28I hope so.
17:29I hope so.
17:30Yeah.
17:31One of my favorite moments of the, uh, victory celebration was your son driving Ed Koch nuts.
17:39DJ, you remember that?
17:41Yes.
17:42Yeah.
17:43He's 39 now.
17:44Imagine that.
17:45That cute little kid.
17:46He's a kid that grew up and ended up going to college and playing college basketball.
17:51And briefly for the Phoenix Suns.
17:53Yeah, I played at Maryland with Gary Williams.
17:56So.
17:57If you play the Immaculate Grid and only one team, Phoenix Suns, use DJ Strawberry.
18:02Yeah.
18:03You get a good score.
18:04There you go.
18:05So who's your favorite?
18:06Who's going to win it in basketball?
18:10Is it?
18:11How the Knicks going to do?
18:12I think Celtics going to win.
18:13You think Celtics going to win again?
18:14Yeah.
18:15I don't think the Knicks don't have the players to beat the Celtics.
18:17They don't.
18:18What about Cleveland?
18:19Cleveland?
18:20I don't.
18:21Huh?
18:22I don't really believe in Cleveland.
18:23You don't?
18:24Okay.
18:25What about Oklahoma?
18:26I like them.
18:27You like them?
18:28I like them to come out of the West.
18:29Yeah.
18:30So who wins it this year in baseball?
18:33Well, it's too early to say.
18:35Hopefully it's the Mets.
18:36Yeah.
18:37The Dodgers are always scary.
18:38Yeah.
18:39The Dodgers, what you got to do is to beat the Dodgers, you have to beat them in the postseason.
18:43You can't beat them in the regular season.
18:45They're going to win 100 games.
18:46Oh, did we learn that lesson?
18:47Yeah.
18:48You can't beat them during the regular season.
18:50We should have waited, huh?
18:51But.
18:52Until we got the postseason that year in the 80s.
18:53But if you can get them in a series and get close games.
18:57Yeah.
18:58And find a way to win under a bullpen.
19:03Yeah.
19:04I think you can win.
19:05I think that's the key.
19:06But you got to get past the Dodgers to win it all, huh?
19:08Yeah.
19:09Yeah.
19:10The Dodgers are a team to beat.
19:12You got Ohtani, the best player in the game.
19:15No.
19:16No way.
19:1750-50.
19:18That's pretty impressive.
19:19That's pretty impressive.
19:20But you know, I mean, to be the best player, you got to play every day.
19:25You got to run out there.
19:26You can't just be a.
19:27Yeah, that's true.
19:28I agree with that.
19:29You can't just be a DH, you know.
19:30I agree with that.
19:31The best player that I ever saw in the game was Barry Bonds.
19:35Barry Bonds.
19:36The best everyday player.
19:38And you know, I got to say this.
19:41Errors happen.
19:42Right.
19:43We have different eras in baseball.
19:44We had an era where the ball was dead.
19:46Where pitchers could spit on the ball, rough the ball off, do anything they want in the
19:50baseball.
19:51Right.
19:52And it was okay.
19:53Is the ball alive now?
19:55It might be.
19:56You think?
19:57Sometimes it is.
19:58The last couple of years.
19:59You're not for sure?
20:00What?
20:01I mean, I played.
20:02I played some years where you just had to hit it.
20:04But so many players were using steroids.
20:07In fact, Bonds didn't start using steroids.
20:09After.
20:10The fact that Barry Bonds is not in the Hall of Fame and Bud Selig is, is an outrage.
20:17Right.
20:18And Pete Rose not there.
20:19Oh yeah.
20:20Him too.
20:21Roger Clemens.
20:22Pete Rose should have been there a long time ago.
20:24Roger Clemens.
20:25Yeah.
20:26At least these guys are still alive.
20:27They had to let Pete die.
20:28Yeah.
20:29And not get in and see himself.
20:30But Barry Bonds has to be in the Hall of Fame one day.
20:33I mean, it's got to happen.
20:35Yes.
20:36I agree.
20:37And when Bonds goes in the Hall of Fame, that's going to break the dam.
20:39You're going to see a lot of people get in.
20:41Him and Roger.
20:42Roger.
20:43You're going to see A-Rod get in.
20:45Right.
20:46He should be in too.
20:47He's got the numbers.
20:48Yes.
20:49He was an excellent ball player.
20:50I, I, I'm at this point, I'm at the point where the steroid era is the most, the baseball
20:57sanctimonious about steroids is the one it is just.
21:00Well, they enjoyed it because they had a home run.
21:02Yeah.
21:03You're right.
21:04Yeah.
21:05You know, with all the guys with the race between Maguire and Sosa, you know, what that,
21:09what was that like?
21:10That was, they, they benefited from it, right?
21:13And to me, you look at the NFL.
21:15NFL has had a story problem for years too.
21:18Yes.
21:19But you know what happens in the NFL?
21:20Right.
21:21Players get suspended, they move on.
21:22Right.
21:23That's how you fit, you heal baseball.
21:25Right.
21:26You suspend them, you move on.
21:27You should move on from these guys and let them, let them enter their way into what they
21:31accomplished, right?
21:32I was going to note that that era's got a little bit of a, like a shadow of the steroids,
21:37but you heal it by putting them in the hall of fame.
21:40And Barry Bonds, number one, has to be in.
21:42Were they trying to heal it when it was happening?
21:44No.
21:45Okay.
21:46They just enjoyed it.
21:47They enjoyed the moment, right?
21:48And like I said, Bonds, Bonds was, Bonds, if he didn't use steroids, would have been
21:52500-500.
21:53Right.
21:54Maybe not break Hank Aaron's record, but he would have been 500-500 and he would have
22:00been regarded as one of the greatest players of his era.
22:02Yes.
22:03No doubt about it.
22:04If he didn't take steroids.
22:05But he saw the wider and so he said, well, if they can use it, I can use it.
22:10He was still great.
22:11He was still great.
22:12He was still great.
22:13He was still great before that, right?
22:15Yes.
22:16Yes.
22:17Good to see you here.
22:18I mean, Barry Bonds.
22:19Good to see you, sweetie.
22:20You know, now this year, speaking of records.
22:27Yes.
22:28Your record's probably going to fall this year.
22:30Oh, that's good.
22:31Records are meant to be broken.
22:33They don't stand forever.
22:34I'm Frank.
22:35I've had that record for 35 years.
22:39It's about time somebody break it, don't you think?
22:42I mean...
22:43David Wright broke my RBI record.
22:45David Wright would have probably broken the record if his back didn't get out.
22:48Yeah, but baseball have injuries.
22:49You never know what's going to happen.
22:51You never know how it's going to turn.
22:52And so far, Pete Lonzo has been...
22:55Lights out.
22:56Oh.
22:57Money.
22:58Right?
22:59Because, you know, he's like, show me the money now.
23:01Oh, yes.
23:02Yes, he's...
23:03Good for him, though.
23:04You know, he...
23:05He got to that two-year contract.
23:07Yeah.
23:08I think he's relaxed now.
23:10I think he's happy in New York.
23:12Good.
23:13What I would love to see is Pete Lonzo play his entire career at the Mets.
23:16Should.
23:17And have fun.
23:18Maybe end up with 500 home runs.
23:20And he should.
23:21And have fun.
23:22Have fun doing it.
23:23He's in a time and a great place.
23:24Hopefully, he makes that decision.
23:25I mean, I think that the best impact so far with Soto...
23:28Oh, my.
23:29Is that...
23:30Is that...
23:31I think it's helped Pete Lonzo relax.
23:33It has.
23:34It's taking the pressure off of him.
23:35He don't have to...
23:36He don't have to think about what he needs to do.
23:39He just go out there and do it.
23:40It's a lot of times last year he was pressing.
23:42Well, he's thinking about it.
23:43And then he hit that home run off Devin Williams and...
23:46It's like...
23:47That was like...
23:49Like...
23:50Kept him into...
23:51Kept him on the match, I think.
23:53And it just was like a magical moment.
23:55Yes.
23:56That was his magical moment for himself and...
23:59And hopefully, he continued to have more magical moments.
24:01Now, these days, you say you lived in St. Louis and you're running your church.
24:05St. Louis, yes.
24:06How's that going?
24:07It's going well.
24:08I mean...
24:09I'm a traveling evangelist.
24:11I travel...
24:12I travel 270 times out of the year to go help people.
24:16And you and your wife both do great work.
24:19Oh, thank you.
24:20My wife is a lovely woman.
24:21She's the one straightening me out, Frank.
24:22How about that?
24:23Give me something on that.
24:24Yes.
24:25See?
24:26That's what you get when you get a good woman.
24:27She'll straighten you out and she'll lead you and guide you and show you what life is all about.
24:30And of course, last year, you had your health skill at the heart.
24:33I did.
24:34I mean...
24:35Yes.
24:36I mean, how are you feeling with that?
24:38Is that...
24:39I'm here with you, brother.
24:41My health and your health.
24:43And we...
24:44Just knock on wood that we're able to get up every day and keep doing it.
24:49See, you're getting up every day and you're walking like this.
24:52Yes.
24:53I mean...
24:54This is big.
24:55That's something I need to get.
24:56I need to get back to playing golf and get back in shape.
24:59You know, and out there in the sun.
25:01Well, let's see.
25:02And drink the strawberry banana.
25:03Summer.
25:04You know?
25:05I need to start drinking these, I guess.
25:14With Frank.
25:15Frank the Tank.
25:16The my man.
25:17Thanks.
25:18Nobody like him.
25:19And you know, this is great.
25:21And I'm glad that you're able to stop by.
25:23And uh...
25:24This is one of my, like, top target walks.
25:28And I'm glad I was able to do it.
25:30Well, man.
25:31I wanted to spend the day with you.
25:32I just wanted to hang out with you.
25:33You are unbelievable.
25:34Just remember...
25:35One thing, Frank.
25:3788 doesn't belong to you.
25:38It belongs to us.
25:39We...
25:40We choked it.
25:41We gagged it.
25:42So we gagged it in 88.
25:44We should have never lost, but we did.
25:46Alright?
25:47Remember that.
25:48Because I always feel that inside too.
25:50I feel the same way.
25:51That is always my fault.
25:53I mean, I cry over that.
25:54When I think about that series.
25:56That series...
25:57That was heartbreaking.
25:58That series bothers me more than any other series.
26:00It bothers me too.
26:01More than anything.
26:02And I know exactly what you feel.
26:04Because I feel the same thing.
26:05So just remember...
26:06It's on us.
26:07It's not on you, brother.
26:11Alright, Frank.
26:12Thanks a lot.
26:13You got it, man.
26:15We got to get one more low five.
26:16Oh, yeah.
26:17Can you get this?
26:18Oh, yeah.
26:19Let's see.
26:20There you go.
26:35.
