00:00No, I don't think so because most of the time you see these are very sensitive subjects and we are a sensitive nation and we are a sensitive people.
00:14So often sometimes people misunderstand certain statements and certain subjects that are selected for cinema as something that is, you know, having an agenda.
00:25But here in our film Phule, there is no agenda at all. History has not been interpreted. History has only been represented and it has been represented absolutely honestly and as it happened.
00:39So there is no reason for anyone to feel that there is a prejudice and a bias in this film.
00:47This is history as it happened and is so relevant today and that's the reason why Phule has been made.
00:55No, I don't think so because you see when you make a film, you don't tow any line. You just tow your subject, you tow your concept and you tow the people you are dealing with.
01:09So as a relevant, as a socially responsible filmmaker, I do not, you know, sort of worry about whether it tows a particular agenda, it tows a particular political line or anything of that sort.
01:25What it should do is to represent your subjects and your facts correctly and the rest will take care of itself.
01:32Look, I am not here to talk about any other film. I am here to talk about Phule and all I can say is that the censors, I don't know, they were probably being over-cautious and they had certain recommendations, certain tweakings which they wanted us to do.
01:52It was not really cuts as such. We adhere to that because we are people who, you know, we want to go by the law.
02:02But the only thing is that I think we have become a little oversensitive, even if those words were retained, even if those points were retained, I don't think anyone would have objected to it.
02:12But somewhere we had to soften it. But let me assure you, this will not reduce the impact of the film.
02:24See, a lot of people have expressed their opinion about the film, whether it's politicians or actors or colleagues or directors.
02:32I mean, they are welcome to their opinion.
02:34The fact remains that cutting across all lines, every political party has supported Phule, which is in a way a very beautiful thing to happen because they have buried all their differences.
02:50And they have said that Phule is the film to be watched and to be supported by every community.
02:56So if a film is actually bringing together politicians who differ otherwise in their ideologies, I think that speaks volumes for the film.
03:06And that should be signal enough for an audience to go and watch it.
03:16Phule is being released on the 25th in cinemas all over the world.
03:20The censor amendments have already been done. Of course, like I said, it will not reduce the impact of the film.
03:27We have got a clean use certificate and they have themselves endorsed the film that the film should be seen by the younger generation
03:35because Jyotiba and Savitri Bhai Foley started off in their teens, a revolution that still continues.
