00:00Hi, I'm Lana from QYK, and on today's What Makes Us Country, we explore Blake Shelton's road to Nashville.
00:11Blake Shelton, as most of his fans know, is from Oklahoma, which is also the home state of country music giants Reba McIntyre, Toby Keith, Vince Gill, and Carrie Underwood.
00:22Blake is proud of his home state and has a big love for his hometown, Ada.
00:26In fact, the Ada, Oklahoma water tower is the cover photo for his 2014 album, Bringing Back the Sunshine.
00:35Blake's country music success started in 2001 when he enjoyed his first chart-topping country song, Austin, from his self-titled debut.
00:43Also on that album was the top 20 hit, All Over Me, which Shelton co-wrote with his musical hero, Earl Thomas Conley.
00:50Hits followed through the years with the 2007 release of his album, Pure B.S., which featured Don't Make Me and The More I Drink.
00:59The album was re-released in 2008 with three bonus tracks, one of which was a cover of Michael Bublé's Home.
01:06In 2010, he was inducted by friend Trace Adkins on October 23, 2010, as a member of the Grand Ole Opry.
01:15In 2011, Shelton hit a new level of fame when he became a judge on NBC's The Voice.
01:21He still sits in the big red chair today.
01:24In 2012, Blake took home the CMA's top honor winning Entertainer of the Year, as well as Male Vocalist of the Year for the third time.
01:33His personal life has been the subject of many magazine covers.
01:38He married Miranda Lambert on May 14, 2011, in Texas.
01:42The couple divorced four years later.
01:44These days, of course, Shelton is in a relationship with his voice co-star and pop superstar Gwen Stefani.
01:51And there you have it, from 99.5 QIK, Blake Shelton's Road to Nashville on What Makes Us Country.
