00:00Hello and welcome to day two here at Augusta National where Justin Rose is the overnight
00:06leader of their blistering seven on the par 65 on Thursday. It gives the Englishman a three shot
00:12lead at the top of the leaderboard after he carded eight birdies and only one day on day one here at
00:17the Masters. It gives him as I say a decent lead going into day two but there's some heavy hitters
00:23in the chasing pack notably Scotty Scheffler, Ludwig Allberg and Corey Connors they're all on the group
00:29at four under tied for second place ahead of today's play. There's also Bryson Deeson Bow and Terrell
00:35Haddon sitting on three under tied for fifth as they look to cement their place amongst the leaderboard
00:40going into day two. In truth Rory McIlroy should have been among that chasing group amongst the names
00:46at the top of the leaderboard. He was in commanding form as he headed down the 15th after birdies of
00:52three, eight, nine and thirteen. That got him to four under par as I say going down the 15th. However
00:59then things started to unravel for the Osterman. A chip at the back of the green wound into the pond
01:04at the front. An hour of judgment that ultimately cost him two shots and then he followed that with
01:10a three putt on seventh team as he dropped back to level par for his round and with one hole left to
01:16play. The 18th gave him an opportunity to at least scramble something and get something back from his
01:20round. However poor T-Shot found the pains on the right hand side and that sort of way inhibited him
01:26from being able to get a birdie in the final hole which would have been a massive confluence for him.
01:32You got the sense that he was very disappointed with his round at the end and rightly so. At one
01:36point he was four under par and he ended up on level but the truth is he doesn't have much time to
01:41dwell on it and he can't think of the negatives. He's back out today at 9.58 this morning which is
01:462.58 UK time back at home so he really needs to put those errors to one side and think positively ahead of
01:54today's crucial second round for him. Again the round yesterday there were so many positives to
02:01take from it and that's something that Rory probably has to bear a mind going into today. He was commanding
02:06form up until the 15th up until the 15th and Tito Green he was superb. He was very rarely in trouble.
02:13I think he found the bunker on 10 but again he got out of that problem no problem at all and even before
02:20his errors he probably could have been five or six under with some great opportunities especially
02:25at the 8th where he had a chance for an eagle. So yeah plenty to be positive about and so another
02:31big days ahead of Rory as he looks to put himself in contention. He's seven shots behind Justin Rose
02:37but he needs to get himself back up that leaderboard if he is to finally win that green jacket.
02:41Incidentally Justin Rose the leader he's out before Rory at 8.52 this morning so very very shortly
02:48that's 1.52 UK time and as I mentioned Scotty Sheffley he's out at 1.23 6.23 UK time as he
02:56looks for his third green jacket. So yeah another interesting day ahead here at Acosta. My name
03:02is Mark McMahon and I'll be back again with more video footage tomorrow. Thank you, goodbye.
