Gals FC is a unique recreational women's football club where there are no scores, no referees, and no pressure—just "vibe protectors" to maintain the fun.

Founded in September 2022 by Lorne Magill and Nora Beqaj, the club has grown to 270 members and is expanding across the UK.

The club prioritizes community and fun, with games that swap positions every five minutes and everyone celebrating goals.

Lorne and Nora hope to make Gals FC the leading name in women's recreational football, with plans to be in 50 UK cities by the end of 2025.

Members report improved mental health, thanks to the supportive environment.

00:00My name's Becky, I'm one of the Vibe Protectors at Brixton Gals FC.
00:08Hi, I'm Maria, I'm the other VP at Brixton.
00:11Vibe Protectors are two gals in each group, whether it's Brixton or Ipswich or Tottenham,
00:17and basically we help run the sessions.
00:19Both of us have never really played football before this, we signed up basically because
00:23we wanted to get to know the girls in our area.
00:25We love football, but we're both very new to it and that's the case with pretty much
00:28everyone who plays for us, so we're here to run the sessions, keep the vibes going
00:32and just make sure everyone has a great time basically.
00:37The lovely thing about Gals FC is that it's just completely non-competitive, we all come
00:40out just to kick the ball around, have a good time.
00:43It's something that wasn't really readily available for women we found, like an organised
00:47place where we could all just come and not really know each other.
00:51Honestly, the rules are flaky.
00:54We just hit the ball, score goals, hope for the best, but we really do improve week on
00:59week, so it's been a wonderful experience.
01:01So generally the vibe is we don't keep score.
01:03We play a game each week, which we divide into five minutes each so everyone can swap
01:07around and try different positions.
01:09We kind of referee each other and it's mostly about having fun, cheering each other on,
01:13giving each other just space to try things out, have fun, and when we score, we don't
01:18keep score.
01:19So we just reset, we start again, and we keep just everyone excited and happy to play, and
01:25yeah, it's all about supporting each other and just having a good time.
01:27It's open to anyone, any woman or non-binary person that just wants to get into football
01:31for the first time, and we are currently expanding, so we're in Brixton, there's a number of
01:35London groups already, I think we've got 12 in total, including some in Brighton and Ipswich.
01:40They've just expanded up north, so we've opened in York, and there's more on the way.
01:46They're just always opening new sessions, which is so amazing, and just goes to show
01:49how interested women are in football and how big it's getting, so yeah, I think if you're
01:54thinking about signing up, it's such a great thing to do.
01:56We've all become such good friends, and it's such a safe, lovely place to be, so yeah,
02:01it's great that they're opening so many more sessions.
