00:00Hi, this is Bhavna and you're watching Goodreturns, we are at Startup Mahakumar 2025 which is
00:16the second edition of this event, we are here with the founder of Cure AI, Mr. Prashant
00:22Warrior.
00:23We will talk to Prashant Warrior about his journey, about Cure AI, Sir, welcome to Goodreturns.
00:30First of all, I would like to know about Cure AI, how did you start this journey and what is Cure AI?
00:39We read X-rays and CT scans through AI, so you take an X-ray, you go to the doctor,
00:46the doctor says take an X-ray, you go to the X-ray room and take an X-ray or CT scan,
00:50this is usually read by a radiologist, but there are no radiologists everywhere in the world,
00:54even in India, if you go to the rural parts of India, you will not find radiologists,
00:58so we automatically interpret that, we read X-rays and CT scans within seconds through
01:03AI, so the entire X-ray report comes out, the algorithm will tell what is the abnormality
01:08in the X-ray, where is the abnormality and the same in CT, so we do that.
01:15With which vision did you start Cure AI?
01:19Our vision was that there is a shortage of radiologists all over the world and it takes
01:25a lot of time, there are also a lot of diagnosis issues, so our hypothesis was that when we
01:32read these radiology images through AI, we will be able to create value from it,
01:41which means we will be able to diagnose the patient early, the patient will have a better
01:47diagnosis and the patient will get treatment soon, the patient will get better treatment,
01:54that was our hypothesis and it has been 9 years, now our products are running in 100
01:59countries, in 4200 hospitals and on an annual basis we provide our services to 15-20 million
02:06patients, again we do not directly provide to the patients, we have end-user doctors,
02:12but 15-20 million patients go through our system every year.
02:18When you started, I am sure there must have been some challenges, what were those challenges
02:22and how did you handle and deal with them?
02:25I think one of our challenges was that we are making products, it is a software, but
02:29there is a regulatory approval for it, for that we have to do regulatory clearance, you
02:33must have heard of FDA clearance, we have to do FDA clearance to sell it in the US,
02:37in India there is CDSCO clearance, there is a regulatory body everywhere that clears
02:42such products, so we had to take that clearance, we did not have that idea before, I am from
02:48a technology background, so we did not have an idea how to take that clearance, but we
02:52figured it out over time and now our products are cleared in 100 countries and are commercially
02:58available.
03:00How do you see India's healthcare system and what do you think about the co-operation
03:05between healthcare and AI, who needs it in a country like India?
03:14There is a lot of need in a country like India, because in our country we do not have enough
03:21doctors and radiologists, the field we operate in, we do not have radiologists, so when you
03:27do not have trained professionals to meet patients, to read the patient's scan, to
03:33diagnose, there AI provides a democratization, basically through AI, the accessibility,
03:41the capability which you can provide in the US, you can provide it in India also, because
03:45AI is the same, so technology becomes a democratization platform, it can provide the same service
03:51to a patient in India or a patient in another geography, a more developed geography for
03:56example, and that is a big need in our country.
04:00If I ask you apart from healthcare, do you consider AI to be a threat, like regarding
04:05data, do you consider AI to be a threat?
04:10AI will always be a threat, in healthcare AI is a force multiplier, patients' diagnosis
04:17is faster, treatment is faster, better treatment, drug discovery is done by AI, so in healthcare
04:23AI becomes a value addition, but in a lot of fields AI is going to take away jobs, jobs
04:30will go, you see autonomous vehicles in the US, in San Francisco, you will sit in a car
04:37without a driver, it will take you from origin to destination without a driver, and in coding
04:44for example, coding, a lot of coding has become automated, so the requirement of coders has
04:49reduced, in the legal process, to read legal documents, AI can do a lot of work, so in
04:56a lot of fields AI is progressing a lot, but because of that the number of jobs that are
05:02available for humans will reduce.
05:06So I think people need to be more skilled so that AI can be given competition.
05:12How can India's healthcare system be improved?
05:17India's healthcare system, I think, has a lot of, I am a technology person, I think
05:25there are a lot of interventions to improve the healthcare system, but technology will,
05:32my perspective will come from technology, that there can be a lot of improvement from
05:36technology, from technology we can digitize patient records, we can use AI, like we are
05:44talking now, doctor and patient are talking, so our AI can record that conversation and
05:50can transcribe it and can make a complete summary, which will go in an electronic medical
05:58journal, in the middle of this conversation it can give recommendations to the doctor
06:02that this patient may have this problem, this TB may happen.
06:05Is this available in Cure AI?
06:07This is not available in Cure AI, so our technology, AI and technology can improve
06:13healthcare a lot, that is our viewpoint.
06:16Right, for all the start-ups here, if you want to give an advice, this is the advice
06:24which is very important to make every start-up successful.
06:28I think, at the present date, it is a very good time to start AI start-up, a lot of
06:35technology is available, the question is, how do you integrate it in the workflow, how
06:41do you solve the problem, how do you solve a real physical problem with AI, if you solve
06:46it, it will generate a lot of value.
06:49What do you think, when you were starting this journey, and today you are at this point,
06:53you are telling that in so many countries, you have gained visibility, you have presence,
06:59what was your best learning, which has brought you to this point?
07:06I think, the most important learning of any founder is that you should always keep an
07:11open mind, how you can transform, how you can pivot, how you can strategize, you keep
07:18on changing, you have to evolve, the world is changing, especially in today's date,
07:22the world is changing very fast, AI is getting better, every version comes in 2 months, it
07:27is even better, so fast pivot, being able to evolve quickly is a very big requirement.
07:35What motivates you, what is the one thing that motivates you?
07:40Motivation for me is being able to create impact, we are reaching 15 million lives every year
07:47and being able to reach more people, our vision is to reach more than a billion people through
07:52our solutions, through our AI solutions and that is the motivation that keeps us on.
07:57What are the future plans of Cure AI?
07:59What new innovations can we see in the future?
08:03We are going to many therapeutic areas, we are in lung cancer, tuberculosis, stroke,
08:12heart failure, we are working in COPD, we are going to launch a diagnostic assistant
08:21solution where a doctor will get an assistant who will support him in his patient conversation.
08:29So AI can be a support to the doctor when they chat to a patient.
08:34Thank you so much sir and congratulations all the best.
