00:00The Prime Minister of Denmark, which at this point owns Greenland, so Denmark, a NATO ally,
00:15is saying that it's unacceptable that one country cannot annex another country.
00:20We're not going to annex anything.
00:22It's going to be up to Greenlanders.
00:23The Vice President made that clear.
00:25He's going to respect the self-determination of Greenlanders.
00:28So at some point, the Greenlanders have made clear that they want to be independent of
00:32Denmark.
00:33So Denmark should focus on the fact that the Greenlanders don't want to be a part of Denmark.
00:37That's what they should focus on.
00:39We didn't give them that idea.
00:40They've been talking about that for a long time.
00:42Whenever they make that decision, they'll make that decision.
00:44And then what we're not going to do is let China come in now and say, offer them a bunch
00:48of money and become dependent on China.
00:51The President said he would not rule out using military force against Denmark, a NATO ally.
00:56No, he said he would not rule out.
00:57No, no, no.
00:58He would not rule out.
00:59He said, I'm not going to rule out anything if Greenland is encroached upon by a foreign
01:04power like a China or Russia or anybody else.
01:06But it doesn't matter because Greenlanders are going to make a decision.
01:10They're the ones that want to get away from Denmark.
01:12They're the ones that want to be independent.
01:14Not us.
01:15We didn't come up with that idea.
01:16They did.
01:17And if they make that decision, then the United States would stand ready potentially to step
01:20in and say, OK, we can create a partnership with you.
01:22We're not at that stage.
01:23But that's what the Vice President made clear last week in his visit there.
01:26The statement was abundantly clear that we will respect the self-determination of the
01:30people of Greenland.
01:32People of Greenland.
01:33And they're the ones that want to leave Denmark.
01:34That wasn't our idea.
