00:00Good morning. If you're waking up to grey skies, we're hoping for some sunshine.
00:05Well, fear not, they will materialise. For many, it's going to be a sunny weekend.
00:10It's been quite a gusty, blustery night across parts of the West,
00:13and that low cloud has been seeping in through the night.
00:16So that's why you may be waking up to grey skies first thing.
00:19But by mid to late morning, that low cloud will be disappearing,
00:23and then we'll see some decent spells of sunshine coming through.
00:26There is always the threat with an easterly breeze of the Haar and the Fret,
00:30just sticking to some eastern coasts. But for many, it'll be fine and sunny.
00:35And the brisk and fairly noticeable cold wind across the South will ease a little through the day,
00:41but it'll still look warmer than it feels.
00:44Temperatures won't be quite as high as yesterday's values.
00:48We could still squeak up to 20 across South Wales, southwest England,
00:52but more likely into the high teens.
00:54And again, these eastern coasts could struggle to get out of single digits.
00:58And certainly when compared to yesterday, these numbers are a few degrees lower,
01:03particularly across parts of eastern England.
01:05And it feels colder with that breeze, which will continue to ease a little through the night.
01:10A slight shift in the wind direction means the low cloud that gets pulled in overnight tonight
01:15will be more confined to eastern Scotland,
01:18and the Midlands and eastern England won't see as much of it through the night tonight.
01:22But it does make for a colder night, temperatures more widely getting close to freezing.
01:28So gardeners take note.
01:30Don't want to be planting too many delicate flowers at the moment
01:33because there is a continued risk of nighttime frosts, even as we go into next week.
01:38Most towns and cities just about staying above tonight,
01:41but some touches of frost certainly likely in the countryside.
01:45So a chilly start to Sunday, but another cracking day if you like blue sky.
01:49It will start a bit dry in eastern Scotland and the high may stick around on some coasts.
01:54Certainly, it could persist over Shetland for much of the day as the winds swing more southerly.
01:58That southerly wind across northern Scotland means temperatures should be a bit higher along the Murray Firth.
02:03Well, we've got the breeze in from the North Sea in Aberdeen.
02:06Temperatures could still struggle to get out of double figures,
02:10but probably a warmer feeling day in Edinburgh.
02:12Further south, temperatures a degree or so down on today's values.
02:1616, 17, maybe 18 in one or two places.
02:19But at least that wind will be a little bit lighter through tomorrow.
02:23Plenty of sunshine to come then this weekend.
02:25And for many, it's likely to continue well into next week.
02:29And with quite a few schools broken up now, that is good news if you're on school holiday.
