In a significant press conference today, BJP spokesperson Dr. Sambit Patra highlighted the ongoing issues in West Bengal, particularly focusing on the major school recruitment scam. Dr. Patra discussed the serious allegations of corruption related to the recruitment of teachers and non-teaching staff in the state between 2016 and 2021. He referenced the Supreme Court’s recent ruling, which called attention to the massive irregularities in the recruitment process, where over 23-24 lakh applicants had applied for teaching positions. The Kolkata High Court, in its judgment on April 22, 2024, declared that the recruitment process was tainted by corruption, and that many positions had been filled using improper methods, including manipulating Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheets. The court determined that the recruitment was fraudulent, with candidates being placed unfairly through bribes and manipulation, putting qualified candidates at a disadvantage. Dr. Patra emphasized that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) must conduct a thorough inquiry into the matter. He accused the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) government of hindering investigations and making baseless accusations against the CBI and Enforcement Directorate (ED) when the matter came to light. The BJP press conference aimed to target the Mamata government’s handling of this major scandal, calling for transparency and accountability in the recruitment process.

00:15Today's press conference is about a very serious issue.
00:20Everyone among you is aware of what is happening in Bengal.
00:26The situation in Bengal, the corruption in Bengal, the atrocities of Didi in Bengal,
00:35people are seeing this not only in India, but in the whole world.
00:41In Oxford, Mamata Banerjee said that she is a tigress.
00:47No tigress is involved in corruption.
00:51No tigress feeds her own children.
00:57The real leader never sends his own people to hell through money, corruption and corruption.
01:09His life does not make his life hell.
01:13But it is very sad to say that the way Mamata Banerjee and her government have unleashed corruption in Bengal,
01:25has left corruption open,
01:29today, millions of people are suffering because of it.
01:35Yesterday, the Supreme Court of India,
01:40the corruption in schools in Bengal,
01:46the corruption in schools, between 2016 and 2021,
01:52Approximately 23 to 24 lakh applicants applied for the posts of teachers and non-teaching staff in Bengal through advertisements.
02:07And between 2016 and 2021, approximately 25,780 teachers and non-teaching staff were recruited.
02:19And there was so much corruption in it,
02:25that many people went to court on this issue.
02:29And at that time, in Bengal, it was known as a bribe-for-job scam,
02:35a scam that takes money and gives work,
02:40a bribe-for-job scam and a school admission scam.
02:46In April 22, 2024, the High Court of Calcutta gave a very clear decision.
02:56They decided that the 25,780 people who have been recruited,
03:07this recruitment procedure is faulty,
03:10this is a corruption,
03:14taking money in the wrong ways,
03:17the OMR sheet,
03:20which is called the Optical Mark Recognition Sheet,
03:25when this exam takes place, the evaluation of this sheet is done,
03:29it was destroyed,
03:32so that it is not known who is right and who is wrong.
03:37So that the candidate who has been marked at the bottom,
03:43can be brought up and placed in a higher rank.
03:47The one who is not a topper, should be made a topper.
03:52The one who did not qualify and did not answer any questions in the OMR sheet,
03:59how should he be given recruitment?
04:02On the basis of money.
04:04So the High Court of Calcutta, on April 22, 2024,
04:09clearly said that this should be removed,
04:12the appointment process should be started a second time,
04:15and the most important thing is that the CBI should be investigated.
04:18The CBI should be investigated.
