00:00Krystal showed me one of the basic moves that they do inside the wrestling ring.
00:08And go!
00:11One!
00:14Two!
00:16Three!
00:18Four!
00:20Five!
00:22Six!
00:24She's a master!
00:26No, it's because you're carrying a rope.
00:29Yes, she's bouncing.
00:31At first, it's slow.
00:35But when you bounce like that, it's like you're pushing.
00:38So you're like this.
00:40Yeah!
00:42Wait, what?
00:44It's like you're being pushed.
00:48It's like when you do that, you're already here.
00:51That's why when we do this, it's like we're here.
00:55And that's the easiest part of their training.
00:59What I did, when I got tired, I only did five.
01:02That's the easy part.
01:04The hard part.
01:14As time went by, more women joined the so-called sports entertainment.
01:19Because of Krystal, the doors were opened for more female wrestlers.
01:30One of them is the female do-it-yourself superhero of the Philippine wrestling scene, Super P.
01:37Why did you join wrestling?
01:40Same with Krystal.
01:42I've always loved wrestling ever since I was a kid.
01:45So from the video games that I used to play with my cousins,
01:50to actually watching wrestling on TV when I was 10 years old.
01:55In fact, I told my mom at the time,
01:59I want to be a wrestler when I grow up.
02:02What did your mom say?
02:04Of course, she didn't take it seriously.
02:06Because at the time, it seemed impossible.
02:08Because at the time, there was no local wrestling.
02:12There was no Philippine Wrestling Revolution.
02:15So at the time, I didn't take it seriously.
02:19Even my classmates and friends were like,
02:21that's just a phase.
02:23From just watching on TV,
02:26Super P started watching live matches of local wrestling.
02:31And this is where she met Krystal.
02:34You watched Krystal?
02:36Yes, it was her first match. I was there.
02:38I was cheering hard.
02:40How did you feel when you watched Krystal?
02:43It was so exciting.
02:46Because at the time, she was the only female wrestler.
02:51Before that, all the local wrestlers were male.
02:54When Krystal made her debut, I was so excited.
02:58Because I thought,
03:00women can do this.
03:02We already have a leader.
03:05So that's why...
03:07Sorry.
03:09So after that,
03:10Actually, I approached her.
03:12I don't know if she remembers.
03:14But I approached her,
03:16and I told her that I want to train.
03:19I want to join.
03:21But like Krystal,
03:23Super P went through a lot of trials
03:26before she entered the world of Philippine Wrestling.
03:30She needed to be physically and mentally fit
03:34before becoming a female wrestler.
03:37What do you mean you're not physically and mentally fit?
03:40At the time,
03:42I really had no sports experience.
03:47I'm the type of person who escapes from the field.
03:50Okay.
03:52I make excuses like that.
03:54So I wasn't physically active at the time.
03:57I was overweight.
03:59Oh, really?
04:01Yes.
04:02And mentally,
04:04I was having mental health struggles also.
04:07So I wasn't also mentally ready
04:09for going into wrestling.
04:11Because in wrestling,
04:13it's not just about being physically fit,
04:15but also mentally ready
04:17for enduring the hardships
04:19that come with wrestling.
04:22As Super P pursued her dream,
04:27in 2018, she bravely joined the training.
04:33How hard was it?
04:35It was hard.
04:37Especially for someone like me
04:39who doesn't have any sports experience.
04:41Everything was new to me.
04:43All the movements were new to me.
04:45But no matter how hard it was,
04:50I still got injured in my knee
04:52which had to require surgery.
04:54But despite that,
04:56I really love wrestling.
04:58It's really something that I'm passionate about.
05:00I still want to fulfill my dream
05:02of becoming a wrestler
05:04when I was younger.
05:06I'm serious now.
05:08It's not just a joke.
05:10I really want to be a wrestler.
05:12Even though it was really hard,
05:14not just physically but mentally,
05:16I really pushed myself.
