00:00So even though it was really hard, not just physically but mentally, I really pushed through everything.
00:09One of the people who inspired Crystal in the world of wrestling is the 25-year-old Patricia Ligaya.
00:16Patricia, when you joined wrestling, was Crystal the first person you watched?
00:23Actually, when I watched Pinoy wrestling, I was attracted to the others.
00:27I started getting into pro wrestling in general because of Pinoy wrestling.
00:33I discovered the world of pro wrestling late.
00:37I also watched Crystal on YouTube and documentaries.
00:47Crystal is a very big inspiration to a lot of Pinoy wrestlers today.
00:53I would say that she opened a lot of doors for us.
00:58Patricia did not dream of becoming a female wrestler.
01:03She just started as a fan of what she watched in the pro wrestling community.
01:09So you were a fan, you were just idolizing them, and now you're the one who's watching.
01:16How does it feel to transition from being a fan to now being the idol of fans?
01:23In a literal sense, my life changed.
01:28At the time, during the pandemic, I started in Nueva Ecija.
01:32I started there through online training.
01:36I watched Coach Fabio teaching us.
01:39Then one February, he told me to come here and train in person.
01:45From there, I traveled from Nueva Ecija to Manila.
01:48Every month, that's what happened.
01:51It wasn't easy because it took me two years to debut.
01:56Although it's hard for Patricia to travel back and forth between the province and Manila for training,
02:02it was a big help for her to get to know herself better.
02:06When I entered the pro wrestling industry, I was actually struggling with my direction in life.
02:12During that pandemic, I was just at home in the province.
02:16So I was thinking, when will this end? What will I do with my life?
02:21I also stopped schooling for a while because of the pandemic.
02:25So when they told me to come here and train,
02:30it was like a shift in my life because I now have a direction.
02:35Patricia is currently doing training in wrestling and studies.
02:39She also uses her course because she designs the gears that she wears whenever there are live matches.
02:48And because their training is no different from men's,
02:52it's also nice to feel that they don't underestimate their femininity in a world that is dominated by men.
03:00We're actually celebrated here.
03:03Pinay Wrestling is celebrated here.
03:05So it feels very heartwarming to finally have a community that pushes you to do better.
