00:00Val Kilmer's death and how his friends,
00:04his family members are all reacting to this.
00:06There was a very emotional moment today in Las Vegas
00:10where his former Top Gun co-star, Tom Cruise,
00:13was addressing the crowd at CinemaCon.
00:16And obviously coming the day,
00:18just a couple of days after Val's death,
00:21Tom had to acknowledge that
00:22and actually started with a moment of silence,
00:27asking the crowd for a moment of silence
00:29to honor Val.
00:31So that was quite a moment there in Las Vegas.
00:35I think, obviously, one of his most iconic roles
00:37is Top Gun.
00:39Him and Tom were great in the first one.
00:41Everybody sees them.
00:42Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:43I mean, Maverick and Iceman.
00:43They're loyal to each other.
00:44Right, and so I think it was a very nice thing,
00:47a very fitting thing for Tom Cruise to do.
00:49Yeah, it would've been odd for him
00:51to not mark the occasion.
00:53We've also seen his family members reeling from this.
00:57And we've told you, we broke the story yesterday,
00:58that they knew this was something that was coming.
01:02He had been in declining health
01:04while it was an absolute shock to everyone else.
01:07They had some time to prepare for this,
01:10but we saw his daughter hugging her mother,
01:14Val's ex, Joanne Wally, yesterday
01:18as they're obviously dealing with this loss,
01:22even though they knew that it was coming to this.
01:25It makes it a bit easier, I think, Charles,
01:26when you know it's coming.
01:27But still, when you lose a family member, it's terrible,
01:31and they're obviously feeling it right now.
01:32So as the family is talking about that,
01:35obviously Val's co-stars are just remembering
01:39what an incredible talent he was.
01:41And look, we've heard people, directors in particular,
01:45say that he could be difficult to work with on set.
01:48One of his co-stars, Danny Trejo,
01:50describes it differently.
01:52He says it's not so much that he was difficult,
01:55and remember, they worked together on Heat.
01:58One of my favorite movies.
01:59One of the greatest action movies ever.
02:00Incredible movie.
02:02But this was Danny's experience.
02:04This is how he describes Val on set.
02:07Val was like one of the A-list, what they call it,
02:14actors in Hollywood that's top of the line,
02:20who the minute you walked on set,
02:23whether you were an A-list player or not,
02:25he immediately made you feel like, hey, what's up?
02:28Val was just a, I can't say that he was like a problem.
02:38To directors, I think he was more of a perfectionist.
02:43You know, to cast, he was just a blast.
02:46You know, I mean, he was so cool.
02:48You know, Charles, and at the end of the day,
02:49if you are a director, I want someone
02:51who would be a perfectionist over somebody who doesn't care,
02:54and I think it just goes to show he cared about the craft.
02:56Right.
02:57I want someone who's, you know,
02:58every time you yell action is gonna give you the best,
03:02and if he doesn't feel it's his best,
03:04he wants an opportunity.
03:05Maybe it can be tough in that moment,
03:06but when the movie comes out.
03:08Yeah, the audience appreciates it
03:11and makes everybody look good.
03:12So, an incredible loss that you're gonna be hearing
03:16for days to come, people talking about
03:18their experiences with Val.
03:20Timothee Galvin, Fort Worth, Texas here.
03:22So sad to hear about the passing of Val Kilmer,
03:25even after he overcame cancer.
03:28I was really surprised to see Tom Cruise
03:30take a moment of silence.
03:31That's such a big thing for him.
03:33CinemaCon, to acknowledge the passing of him.
03:37It speaks to their relationship
03:39and just all the stories that are coming out from him
03:43that are nice stories about him
03:45and remembrance of him during this time.
03:47I'd love to see that.
03:48He obviously will be incredibly missed.
03:50Yeah.
