00:00Anyone who says there may be a little bit of pain before we get things right, need to
00:06talk about farmers who are one crop away from bankruptcy.
00:09They don't have time.
00:11So we've got to be crisp on this implementation, otherwise we could do damage that's irreparable
00:16to farmers.
00:17The President has admitted tariffs will create pain for some businesses, and I think Wisconsin
00:21will be particularly hard hit with all the manufacturing and agricultural interests.
00:25He's used tariffs in the past effectively to get nations to do what they should have
00:29done anyway.
00:30Right now, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, but I'm concerned.
00:32We've already heard from some of our beef processors, popcorn exporters, that they're
00:38losing some market share in Europe.
00:39So it is concerning.
00:40But I'm all for fair trade, reciprocal tariffs, but I think in the end a trade war doesn't
00:46help anybody.
00:47What I think is going to happen is that the tariffs, this huge tariff disparity that we
00:58have with these other countries, is going to come down.
00:59They're going to bring their tariffs down because they need the U.S. to be active trading
01:02partners.
01:03So when the average American family sits down and tries to figure out how they're going
01:10to pay for things, and they hear they may pay $5,000 more than they've had to pay before,
01:16and they may not be able to buy a new car, they may not be able to support that new drug
01:21that grandma needs, they may not be able to take that vacation they were planning
01:28for for a year, they're going to be outraged.
01:30And they should be outraged.
01:32These tariffs are a disaster for the average American family.
01:39Not only is he not doing enough to lower costs, he's actually making things worse.
01:43So they're going to see this for what it is, which is a tax imposed on the American people
01:47by President Trump.
01:50We have to save the people and the industries of the United States.
01:55If they continue to go on, we're going to have huge problems.
01:58We think we've got problems now, they'll get much worse.
02:00In my state of Alabama, we voted almost unanimously for President Trump.
02:04They believe in him.
02:05And he's trying something different.
02:07We have to have a different game plan.
