00:00Well, Mr. President, this week, Donald Trump is preparing to take a sledgehammer to the
00:06American economy by preparing a tsunami of tariffs on all sorts of goods Americans purchase
00:13every day.
00:14A tsunami of tariffs.
00:17Let's be clear, Donald Trump's tariffs are a tax hike on American families.
00:23The average costs families will have to pay for groceries, gas, everyday goods, etc. will
00:29go up by thousands, thousands of dollars a year out of hard-working people's pockets
00:35to pay for these tariffs.
00:38And Donald Trump has the gall to call his trade war Liberation Day.
00:46That makes as much sense as calling a layoff notice a promotion letter.
00:51The Trump administration clearly has no strategy or goal behind their tariffs.
00:56One minute they say the tariffs will lead to more people buying American-made goods.
01:01But Peter Navarro said yesterday tariffs will also raise trillions in revenue.
01:06This is a total contradiction.
01:09You can't use tariffs to both raise revenue and bring jobs back.
01:13The only way you raise that much in revenue is if Americans pay that much for goods made
01:19abroad.
01:20And that means consumers will hurt most.
01:23Donald Trump knows his plan will send costs surging.
01:27He said he hopes automakers raise their price, spoken like a true billionaire.
01:32Donald Trump saying I hope automakers will raise their prices?
01:37Okay Mr. and Mrs. Consumer, Mr. and Mrs. Average American Family, Donald Trump wants you to
01:42pay more while he's giving tax cuts to billionaires.
01:47Senate Republicans, where are they?
01:50Always they just go along with whatever Trump wants, no matter how idiotic.
01:55Senate Republicans should be shouting from the rooftops to get the president to reverse
01:59course on tariffs.
02:01People in red states will be especially impacted, from farmers to small businesses.
02:06Republicans should be swarming the Senate floor with statements calling on the president
02:11to change his mind.
02:12But their response has been so feeble, so weak, almost non-existent, that Americans
02:18are ready to question whose side they are really on.
02:23The worst part is nobody knows what these tariffs will look like, perhaps not even Donald
02:27Trump.
02:29On a slow day, he changes his mind about them only once a day.
02:34He seems to change his mind about them almost every hour.
02:38This is not what the American people want.
02:41Americans and American businesses detest the chaos and unpredictability that Trump brings.
02:47No surprise, more and more Americans now disapprove of his handling of the economy.
02:51Meanwhile, the S&P is on track for its worst quarter compared to the rest of the world
02:56since the 1980s.
02:58Consumer confidence is at its worst since Donald Trump's first term.
03:02Outlook for the economy is at a 12-year low.
03:04Household debt is on the rise.
03:07Donald Trump's trade war is playing Russian roulette with the American economy.
03:12And it will be households, retirees, consumers, average families that pay the price.
