00:00Well, let's have a look at Everton and in terms of their league table position, obviously
00:07we're in the running stage now. Where do you think they should realistically be aiming
00:11to finish this season?
00:13Well, there's almost a mini-league going on, isn't there, between I think it's Everton,
00:19Man United, Tottenham and West Ham, I think it is. I think they're on 34 points each,
00:27Man United on 37 and Crystal Palace on 40. Maybe looking at that 12th spot, 11th even,
00:34Brentford are on 41 points. Palace, of course, have got that FA Cup semi-final to consider
00:41are they looking at that? So, table boys will be setting the bar high for Everton. First
00:46of all, you're looking at this, as I say, this mini-league between those four clubs
00:50mentioned. Can we finish above Man United and Tottenham would be an achievement for
00:55Everton, given that they're in a relegation battle in the first half of the season. Look,
01:00I know Man United and Tottenham are having poor seasons by their own standards, but to
01:03finish above those two sides, given the players and the money spent, especially at Man United
01:09and Tottenham have spent a few quid as well, £60-odd million for Dominic Solanke in the
01:15summer, whereas Everton have been selling players for the last few years to help meet
01:20PSR rules if Everton can finish above Tottenham, then it'll be a big achievement. Then they've
01:25maybe got Palace on the side, Brentford's 41, Bournemouth are even stuttering now, aren't
01:30they? It seems like they're just catching up with them, having a small squad. David
01:37Moyes, since he arrived, he's demanded high standards. He's made no bones about it. He
01:43wants Everton to start challenging for Europe again, sooner rather than later, and he'll
01:48want to take real momentum into next season. Another important thing is I think it's maybe
01:53around £3 million, £2-£3 million per place in the Premier League. So, if Everton could
01:59get themselves from 15th to 11th, then the bank can say £8-£10 million, something like
02:08that, maybe a bit more, £12 million, something like that. So, that's big for Everton's
02:13books as well. Some big games coming ahead, as we've discussed before, Arsenal, Nottingham
02:19Forest, Man City, got to go away to Newcastle. So, they're going to be tough, playing teams
02:26who've got something on the line. But then they play Ipswich and Southampton at home.
02:31So, yeah, I think the first thing is that mini-league and then see where you are with
02:35Crystal Palace. If they start focusing on the FA Cup, then why not go for them as well
02:39and see if they can surpass Palace.
