00:00There we go, the fragmentation has run away, ladies and gentlemen.
00:02Seattle Runner steers, representing a good strong season we've had in the Southern Islands
00:06since Boxing Day onwards.
00:09It's been a terrific season, cattle look well, and we've had really good interest in the cattle.
00:13Most of the cattle head north and local.
00:16We've got, I think we've brought about 460 steers so far today,
00:20and most of them are heading local.
00:22One load's going to Gunnedah, we've got two loads going south.
00:25Where will the majority of buyers come?
00:27Local area and obviously northern districts.
00:31Gunnedah, Tamworth, no Queenslanders as far as I'm aware.
00:35And what were they chasing today?
00:37Weight. Angus steers, 300 kilos plus, making $4.40, $4.70.
00:42And your lighter steers, sort of that 200 to 250, making from $4.60 to $5.10.
00:48Quality of cattle is very good. I think it would be a heavier yarding than last year.
00:52We probably didn't have as many cattle from Braidwood this year as we did last year,
00:56mainly because our season's a lot better.
00:58So we're just chasing a bit of weight and a few calves, so they'll be sold a bit later on.
01:02And the yarding was back a little bit on last year?
01:04Numbers were back. Numbers were back mainly on, so last year we had 2,500, 2,600.
01:09This year we had 1,800. That would be back on our season.
01:13The season is very good here.
01:15People probably kept more heifers to get rid of old cows,
01:19and they have probably chosen to hold onto steers a little bit longer now
01:23as compared to selling them earlier.
