00:00Well, this is the first Journey West for Peter Dutton during this campaign.
00:07He's here to launch the campaign of his Liberal candidate for the seat of Pearce.
00:11Now, this isn't the most marginal seat in Western Australia, but it is one that the
00:15Coalition believe they could win because in the recent state election there has been some
00:19sentiment in this area back towards the Coalition and away from Labor.
00:24Now, Peter Dutton doesn't need any encouragement in this environment.
00:28He's a Liberal supporter.
00:30What he does need to do is convince the voters of Western Australia that he has something
00:34for them.
00:36He has made some big announcements already that will be of interest to Western Australians
00:40and he's spoken about them tonight.
00:42He's pledged to give the green light to Woodside's North West gas shelf project and that will
00:47extend that project until 2070 and it's been in the hands of the government which has delayed
00:53a decision on that until after the election.
00:56He has also come with his checkbook out announcing a $600 million roads program for WA for agricultural
01:04and mining roads that need upgrading.
01:07That is something, he says, that will help boost the state's economy.
01:11The state election in WA just a few weeks ago was a resounding win for Labor, so Peter
01:16Dutton has some work to do in this area, but he has just told the crowd that if he wins
01:21Pearce, he wins the election.
