00:07Yeah, I wanted to give you guys a chance to respond.

00:08Elon Musk told Fox News last week, he said, quote, as a result of the work of Doge, legitimate

00:09recipients of Social Security will receive more money, not less money.

00:10He basically said you guys were lying in your accusations against him.

00:11What do you make of this?

00:12So where are Elon Musk's receipts for that?

00:27Elon Musk has cut access to Social Security for tens of millions of people who are legally

00:35entitled to those benefits.

00:37That is a benefit cut.

00:40And I don't care what words Elon Musk wants to use.

00:42It is clear that is what he has done.

00:45And we know that was exactly his intention, because he said the quiet part out loud.

00:51He intends to get rid of the Social Security system.

00:55He has said so.

00:56It is time for us to pay attention, not just as Democrats.

01:00We are on the case here, not just as seniors who take advantage of the benefits that they

01:05are legally entitled to.

01:07But as a nation, we all need to stand up and get rid of Elon Musk and tell Donald Trump

01:15to keep his hands off our Social Security.

01:19And the reality is what he's doing is so unpopular.

01:25And the American people have caught on, and he's trying to play games to cover it up.

01:30For example, he knows that the phone changes are enormously unpopular.

01:34So late last week, he made this big show of saying that they were delaying the change

01:40for all of two weeks and exempting some groups.

01:45And they went out and made huge fanfare as if all the phone policies, which people were

01:50so angry about, had somehow been changed.

01:53And in effect, they made this itty-bitty change, and we tried to tell the American people,

01:58and this is what the war room is going to do, hey, they're gaslighting the American

02:03people and families by misrepresenting what's going on.

02:07Can you talk a little bit more about the goals of the war room and what we should expect from the group?

02:12Sure, I'm glad you do this, but does anyone else want to weigh in?

02:22Look, 100% of the Democrats and independents are laser-focused on this issue.

02:29We are fighting back alongside tens of millions of Americans.

02:33The war room is about getting that effort organized.

02:36It is about oversight that we are obligated to do as members of the United States Senate.

02:42It is about having a place to bring the stories so we can have all of the American people

02:49privy to what we hear when we're back home, so they can hear the stories about what it

02:54means that you may not be able to afford rent, that you may not be able to afford food, and

03:00to get those stories out.

03:03We will use this war room as an opportunity to focus the energy around saving our Social

03:10Security.

03:11And understand this, when American people get a chance to weigh in on Social Security,

03:18there's a lot of energy, and not just a lot of energy to preserve the status quo, a lot

03:23of energy to make Social Security stronger.

03:26And that is what Democrats fight for.

03:29It is time to strengthen the Social Security, not let Musk and Trump kill it.
