00:00So how long have you been like running this business then?
00:02So it'll be two years but I've been grooming for five years.
00:09Miley is a Maltipoo, such as Maltese cross poodle.
00:13This is, which one's which?
00:15This is Lulu, this is Teddy.
00:18Teddy is Lulu's little brother.
00:21They're both full breed Maltese.
00:24This is Lucy and her brother down there is Oscar.
00:28And Oscar's had to be shaved because he had some matting.
00:34So we did that with a nice short blade.
00:37And Lucy's getting very excited.
00:39These two bedlittle terriers have come in and they've actually been really good now
00:42compared to what they were being when they first came in.
00:44When I was younger my dad, he had a dog walking business
00:48so that got us into sort of working with dogs.
00:53Used to them, used to the big dogs as well
00:55because some people can be quite scared of them.
00:56But, you know, they're actually quite nice.
01:01So yeah, always been an animal lover, had loads of pets and everything.
01:04She barely has any tats ever really, but she's got a couple a day.
01:09It's probably just with the weather, is it Miley?
01:11Been getting in the puddles and stuff.
01:15So I hide the little eyes and then you just spray it on them
01:18and it smells delicious, doesn't it Miley?
01:21I'm gonna put her on this belly strap just so she stands up
01:23and I can get her legs dry.
01:25Good girl, Miley.
01:26You ready?
01:28You're a bit of a princess, aren't you?
01:30So you're not used to having the belly strap on.
01:33You like to sit down, don't you?
01:37I know, good girl.
01:39Stay that way.
01:41Loads of regular customers.
01:43I know all my customers on first name basis
01:46and I know them when the phone is.
01:48I've got them saved on my phone.
01:51Yeah, at least 100 I would say, I think.
01:53Everyone's so nice.
01:54Everyone understands that if the dog's welfare comes first,
01:58if the dog needs shaved, it needs shaved.
02:00If it's matted, if it's too gruffy.
02:03We do something called fluff drying,
02:05which is specifically for this type of sort of coat,
02:09like a woolly sort of curly coat
02:12where you brush the hair backwards
02:14with the heat from the dryer and it'll straighten it
02:17so it's easier to get the guard through.
02:19I don't hardly get any naughty dogs.
02:22Um, I think they know.
02:25I think they just know how to behave.
02:26I just think they're quite clever.
02:28They know exactly what to do.
02:29Don't you?
02:30You're one of the better ones, aren't you?
02:32You're a 10 out of 10 girl.
02:34Well, I used to work with food.
02:35So I used to work at Domino's
02:37and your sushi and Tesco and stuff like that.
02:40Um, but then I decided I just wanted to go to college
02:44and get a sort of qualification.
02:48It was either between floristry and dog grooming.
02:51I chose dog grooming.
02:52I did a foundation course.
02:53I managed to get an apprenticeship
02:56um in level two animal care via dog grooming.
03:01So like I learned both things at the same time,
03:04which is really good.
03:05Um, and then I've had many dog grooming jobs,
03:09but I just wanted my own business.
03:10So yeah, I am.
03:12So she's, I think she's only about one or two
03:15and he's three, I think.
03:17So they're still quite young and they're still learning.
03:19I know, sweetie.
03:20Hello.
03:22So we're just doing what we can.
03:24I don't want to make the dog too uncomfortable
03:25or anything like that.
03:26And as you can see, she doesn't like it.
03:28Do you? You don't like it?
03:29No, you're a good girl.
03:31I know.
03:31So I've got two dogs.
03:33Um, I've got a tiny little Shih Tzu.
03:37Um, and a big, huge Labrador cross German shepherd.
03:43Um, and he's obviously the nicer of the two.
03:45The Shih Tzu gets her own way
03:47and she's the daddy's girl.
03:48She gets everything she wants.
03:50I think, oh, I'm so done with dogs today.
03:52And then I'll take my dogs out
03:53and I'll be like, oh, a dog.
03:55Um, and then I'll go over and stroke the dog
03:57and say, I'm a dog groomer and I love dogs.
