00:00On top of the news, the government continues to roll out programs aimed at ensuring food security for the country's poorest communities.
00:09Currently, 300,000 households or approximately 1.5 million individuals received a 3,000 pesos monthly food subsidy to help them purchase essential goods.
00:22The government is also reviewing a report from the Social Weatherization, or SWS, which revealed that 27.2% of Filipinos have experienced involuntary hunger due to lack of food.
00:36Aside from financial aid, the Department of Social Welfare and Development, or DSWD, established the Walang Gutom Kitchen in Pasay City.
00:45Meanwhile, the Department of Agriculture, or DA, is intensifying efforts to increase food production.
00:52The agency has allocated 21 billion pesos for the National Rice Program, while the Department of Trade and Industry, or DTI, is also working alongside the Agriculture Department to monitor and prevent excessive rice price hikes.
01:08Aside from that, we still have the DSWD program. This is the Walang Gutom Project Cuisinero Cook-off Challenge to improve public nutrition.
01:26We also have the Walang Gutom Project that provides eligible families with electronic benefit transfer. This is a 3,000 pesos monthly food credit.
01:38We will study where these so-called hungry Filipinos come from so that we can know where this place is. If there is a shortage, we can address this type of situation.
