00:00I am feeling very good. My family and I are very grateful and happy and excited for this award.
00:07I would like to thank the Indian government for choosing me for this award and considering me worthy of it.
00:14I had auctioned 102 trophies during the COVID-19 pandemic.
00:19I had donated Rs 4,30,000 to the PMCAS fund.
00:24My only intention was to help my country as much as I could.
00:28My grandmother inspired me. She donated her pension to the PMCAS fund.
00:34I got this idea from there and this feeling that I also have to do something for my country.
00:39So, instead of playing golf, I could serve and help my country in the same way.
00:44And that's why I did this.
00:46Now, golf is slowly increasing in our country. Awareness is increasing and many people are now picking up golf.
00:53Kapil Dev has become the President of the Professional Golf Tour of India.
00:59He is doing a lot of schemes and doing a lot of new things so that golf increases in our country.
01:06And the whole world should know that there are many good golfers from India.
01:11So, I would like to say that golf is slowly increasing and many people and youngsters are picking up golf.
01:18And as the players of our country improve, many people will know that Indian players also play golf very well.
01:27When I was 9 years old, I played golf for the first time.
01:30I played golf for the first time in my school and coincidentally we shifted to the golf course.
01:35So, I started slowly after seeing people from there.
01:40And in the beginning, there was not much support from the parents because they did not want me to play golf.
01:45Because there was not much awareness in our society 10 years ago.
01:49But as soon as they felt that Arjun wants to play golf and is doing well in it,
01:53then they have supported me a lot since then.
01:56And that's where I started and now I have been playing golf for the last 10 years.
02:01Three years ago, I became a professional and in 2023 I got the Rookie of the Year award.
02:08After winning the 2018 World Championship, the Virat Kohli Foundation made me their athlete.
02:15They gave me back-up and support.
02:17And in 2019, I got a chance to meet Virat in the Indian Sports Honors event in Mumbai.
02:24So, such things inspire any sportsperson or athlete to do better in their sport.
02:33And from the beginning, Virat Kohli has been my inspiration.
02:36The way he plays with so much discipline, his physique and his fitness levels.
02:41So, he has always been my inspiration.
02:43And after meeting him, I got a lot of encouragement and I got inspired.
02:48And then after that, I tried to improve myself more and more.
02:53For example, Neeraj Chopra.
02:55When he brought a gold medal for our country in the Olympics,
02:59he himself said that he had a lot of support from the government.
03:01So, according to me, in the last 7-8 years, the government has played a very big role in supporting the players.
03:08And the organizations that have been made by the government that support all the athletes.
03:15So, the government has played a very big role in that.
03:17And I would like to say that gradually, a lot of people are doing well in all sports.
03:22And there is also support from the government.
03:24So, the government has played a very big role in the development of sports in our country.
03:28I would like to say that when any athlete does something good and gets a chance to meet the Prime Minister of his country.
03:36According to me, there can be no greater honor than this.
03:39And such things inspire any athlete to do good and do good work.
03:44So, this feeling is very good for our Prime Minister.
03:49And when I was able to do something in Covid, when Modi ji tweeted to meet me, I had the same feeling.
03:56So, he has always supported all the athletes and those who are doing well in their fields.
04:02So, these things will inspire the youth in our country to do some good work.
