00:12Jey M?
00:16Now, before 4 a.m. this morning, the first batch of people of the government
00:23that will help in the search and rescue operations in Myanmar
00:26after the country was hit by a strong earthquake this past Sunday.
00:34The Office of Civil Defense under Secretary Ariel Nepomuceno and DOH Secretary Ted Herbosa
00:40led the send-off ceremony for the people of the various agencies of the government
00:45that will assist in the ongoing rescue operations in Myanmar.
00:49The people were one-by-one dressed as symbols of God's guidance
00:53in their mission to help in the search for survivors and victims of the strong earthquake.
00:59The first batch of the Philippine Contingency consists of 50 people
01:03including people from the Special Rescue Units of the Philippine Air Force and Philippine Army,
01:09as well as people from the Bureau of Fire Protection,
01:11MMDA, Office of Civil Defense, Department of Environment and Natural Resources,
01:16and other private companies.
01:18The Philippine Emergency Medical Team of the DOH also flew
01:22to ensure the safety of the personnel inside the aircraft.
01:26It is composed of medical experts and doctors who look after the health of the people.
01:32On Friday, the country was hit by a 7.7 magnitude earthquake
01:35that destroyed infrastructure, killed thousands of residents, and lost people.
01:41Some Filipinos were not affected by the strong earthquake,
01:44as well as some individuals who were reported by the Department of Foreign Affairs.
01:49Despite the danger of the safety of the life of the contingency,
01:52the Philippine Contingent Commander is confident
01:55that the mission will be able to help those in need.
01:59We consider it as security.
02:04However, for our Philippine Interagency Military Contingent for Myanmar,
02:09we focus on the search and rescue operation
02:11so that we can provide medical assistance to the heavily affected.
02:14We are sure that with close coordination with our embassy and with our DAFA,
02:18we can go over with it, sir, and we can perform our mission,
02:22which is to conduct search and rescue operations and medical assistance.
02:29The Philippine Contingent Commander is well aware of the complicated missions in Myanmar.
02:34The OCD also gave the things or missions
02:37that the Philippine Contingent Commander should give to the wide-ranging rescue operations in Myanmar.
02:43Of course, the assistance to those who are in need,
02:47to those who are still alive,
02:49to those who were trapped in the structures that were built in Myanmar.
02:55That is important because there is still time for them to be saved.
02:59Secondly, from the Department of Health, that is important.
03:02They were sent a 32-month team
03:05that can help with the medical mission.
03:10Some medical and food supplies were brought inside the aircraft
03:15for the Philippine Contingent's long journey.
03:18It is expected that they will travel for 7 hours before arriving in Myanmar.
03:27Now, tomorrow, it is also expected that the second batch of the Philippine Interagency Humanitarian Contingent
03:34will be formed by 33 people from different branches of the government.
03:40That is the latest. Back to you, Naomi.
03:43Thank you very much, J.M. Pineda of PTV.
