00:00GILAS Pilipinas Women's Head Coach Pat Aquino confirmed that top stars Vanessa de Jesus of Duke University and Jack Animab of FCC UAV Arad will play for the national team.

00:16GILAS Pilipinas Women is now preparing for the FIBA Women's Asia Cup in July.

00:20With only three months left until the competition begins, Coach Pat Aquino confirmed that the national team will have additional teammates to rely on.

00:28The Filipino-American cager Vanessa de Jesus of Duke University.

00:33I already invited her. I went to talk to her last October.

00:37I didn't bother her because there's still the NCAA tournament.

00:41But you know, hoping that she can come early so that she can experience Philippine basketball also.

00:49Coach Pat also added that Jack Animab will also play for GILAS Women.

00:54Yeah, Jack is also in her playoffs in Romania.

00:58Hopefully, she'll be finished by the end of April and be here by May.

01:03So, it's good that our preparation is long.

01:07We really are preparing for this coming FIBA Asia Cup just to, you know, manage the expectation from us.

01:15And hopefully, we can give all for the country.

01:18The team is targeting a top six finish to advance to the pre-qualification rounds of the FIBA Women's World Cup to be held next year.

01:26Realistically, to be honest, we need to win against Lebanon.

01:30You know, I think we're bracketed against Australia, Japan, and Lebanon.

01:35Hopefully, you know, we could compete again with these three teams.

01:39But we need to win against Lebanon so that we'll be up to the next level again.

01:45And having to be playing in the top six, you're already qualified for the pre-qualification, pre-qualifying rounds for the World Cup.

01:56GILAS Filipinas Women's FIBA Asia Cup campaign will begin on July 13 in Shenzhen, China.
