00:00In Ecuador, a historic agreement was signed on Sunday between the Citizen's Revolution
00:04movement of Luisa González, who is contesting the presidency of the country, and the Pachacutic
00:10indigenous movement, considered the third political force in the country.
00:14Details with our colleague Elena Rodriguez.
00:20Manuel Caizalema left his farm in Colta.
00:23For today, he is not wielding his hoe, but a flag.
00:26He arrived at the central square of Tixin, in Alausi, in the middle of the Andes mountain
00:31range.
00:32He says that he came to fight for a fair Ecuador.
00:38We have never had help from the government.
00:40That's why we want President Luisa González to help, to facilitate life to the poor people,
00:47the farmers, the people who work.
00:56Hundreds of farmers and workers came to this square to witness the signing of the agreement
01:01between the Citizen's Revolution and the Pachacutic movement, the third political force in the
01:05country.
01:09We as national political leaders, we are obliged to give our political criteria and our ideological
01:14position.
01:15We maintain our historical project of 1994, which manifests our anti-capitalist, anti-neoliberal
01:22position.
01:23Therefore, we will never go with the right wing, not a single vote to the right.
01:31This position was evident in this square adorned in multiple colors.
01:36Banners of around 75 left-wing parties and movements filled the space that served as
01:41the stage for the signing of this unprecedented political agreement.
01:48Since Lenin Moreno's government, Lasso's government, and now Novoa's government neoliberal
01:52policies have been applied.
01:53In the face of that, we cannot turn our backs on this country.
02:00That is why we have decided to generate a process of unity of the left.
02:08Unity and programmatic agreement was defined in aspects such as the fight against insecurity,
02:13the elimination of large-scale mining, the reduction of the value-added tax from 15%
02:18to 12%, not allowing the privatization of strategic sectors, among others.
02:28Today we say to the whole country, fighting for Ecuador is an act of love for the homeland,
02:34for 18 million Ecuadorians, and to love Ecuador is to take care of our peoples.
02:47To take care of our people, to respect our cultures, and also to heal our wounds.
03:02In addition, they rejected the development of a constituent assembly as proposed by the
03:07presidential candidate Daniel Novoa.
03:09They maintain that the rights achieved in the current Ecuadorian political charter cannot
03:14be rolled back.
