00:00Yeah, what was your reaction when the news came out this morning?
00:02Well, I've just literally just read it in the dentist there, but I knew because I'm like,
00:06I know a few guys who kind of know a few bits and bobs, so like, we all sussed that was
00:11probably what's going to happen. So yeah, and it kind of made sense why Ainsworth went.
00:16I feel like, yeah, we were love-bombed and like, and then, you know, kind of said so much like
00:20decent stuff about like the town and like how, you know, and like, I went to the Q&A with him
00:26literally like just over two weeks ago and like we were laughing as well. So I felt like betrayed
00:30because he said all that stuff and I think the closest thing to it is he literally love-bombed
00:34us and then just left, so. Did the news come as a shock then this morning or not?
00:39Er, no, because I think we all sussed there was something up there because I think he was giving
00:43promises which is why he came in in the first place and like we were all saying like, why did
00:46he come to Shrewsbury? He must have like known like he was going to get an investment and like
00:51the takeover was going to happen. So I think we were all a bit sussed like why would he left,
00:54especially because he did all that love-bombing and it was like, you know, and he'd go on about
00:59essentially how this would be his last job and he'd be like 10, you know, kind of like like
01:03we're on the journey, you know, it's front and centre of all the seasons of this stuff and
01:07like he was quite sick of it so like in all the years of being a football fan I think it was like
01:11the most shocking thing. I mean, I imagine like buying clubs is quite hard because he was like
01:15Everton, like they were looking for ages for buyers so, you know, and that's Everton, you know,
01:20and we're just Shrewsbury town so I can imagine for like a lot of people it's kind of, I don't know,
01:25yeah, it's not easy buying a football club. Yeah. But I really don't know, I don't know the
01:31entirety of it, I don't know what it means. It's pretty dark, so I've got to go and renew my season
01:35ticket today and I don't know whether I want to or not. I probably will just because it's all about
01:39like ultimately going to the game is all about family and kind of, you know, like I go to my
01:43club in Law and it's about those moments and I think I'd miss that but like I have no appetite
01:49I don't think I'm going to another game now. It's not that I don't want to go but there's just no
01:55point, like, you know, it's like we've got an interim manager, like, at a given time
02:00our players just aren't good enough, like, it's just really depressing. I've been a season ticket
02:05holder for two seasons, when I actually started college, yeah, so. Okay, and what do you make of
02:10the state of Shrewsbury town at the moment and the current position in League One? I think, um,
02:16I kind of admitted that we're going to get relegated, to be honest, a few weeks ago but I
02:22was just ready for us to go into next season with Ainsworth and, you know what I mean? Yeah. And try
02:26and get back into League One. How gutted were you when he went, obviously? Um, I was shocked.
02:33Were you? Yeah, I really wasn't, I think everyone knew because Lucy was saying, like,
02:39he wanted here for the long-term project, all that stuff, so I was really shocked when he did leave.
02:45Do you think that was based on the promise that there would be a takeover in the summer?
02:49Yeah, I think he did allude to that sometimes, when in, like, his conferences he says, yeah,
02:53I'm here for, like, when there's a takeover and obviously it's not gone through now.
02:58I can understand his position a little bit, it's still a bit annoying. I think there's a level of
03:02respect almost he kind of hasn't shown for leaving halfway through the season. So what do you think
03:07about the news today then? The takeover has fallen through, um, are you gutted about that?
03:14Again, I'm not, to be honest, it was, it was kind of a conclusion that I hadn't
03:20not thought could happen. I was thinking, we keep slipping down the table, right,
03:24and we've already heard that Roland's potentially overvalued the club, right? Okay. So I was thinking,
03:30if we're going to get relegated, we've lost our manager, the value of the club is,
03:33they're definitely not going to try and buy this thing. It's not too much of a surprise,
03:37but it's annoying, certainly. Yeah, what do you think for the future of the club then?
03:41Um, are you fearing for it? Do you think it's going to be another tough season next year?
03:45I am fearing for it because, um, I just remember at the start of the season, I went to the Telford
03:50away match, the pre-season, and we were so bad in that match. I was like, we could be a national
03:56league club in a few years, I'm not going to lie. It could be that bad, I hope it's not.
04:01I want us to try and kick on next season, but I don't, honestly, I'm not too hopeful. Do you think
04:07this has been a terrible couple of weeks then as a Shrewsbury Town fan, the worst of the season?
04:11It's been pretty bad, yeah. Do you think you'll still be going next year though? I've already
04:16renewed my season ticket. Okay, and when the news comes out like this, do you second think it?
04:21I was, yeah, I was, um, I was a bit annoyed. I was thinking, yeah, I've just gone and bought
04:27a season ticket, but I'll be supporting them, so you know what I mean? Are you surprised?
04:31No, we are surprised, to be honest. We've seen it before, haven't we? There's been potential
04:36investment rumours for years with the guy from Greenhouse and Montgomery Waters and
04:45it's all fallen flat, so I'm not really surprised to see it happen again, to be honest.
04:49He's got to come out and say something, you know, it's all over the papers, it's on
04:54the BBC website, there's nothing on the Town website, but, you know, come out and tell us
04:59what's going on. Bit of communication. Yeah, communicate to the fans, and I think that
05:02would appease a lot of people, because otherwise, Saturday could get quite ugly.
