00:00Let's talk to you about another young player on a good team.
00:03Well, last year's number one overall pick,
00:05Travis Bozana is going to start the year in double A.
00:08And I think the path is something like 50 to 75 at bats
00:12and double A, bumping him up the triple A.
00:14And then you'll see him probably around the all-star break.
00:16That's my guess.
00:17Unless of course, something changes.
00:20And we just saw Jose Ramirez, right?
00:22Just one snap, all of a sudden, the calculus changes, right?
00:26Right now, currently, they have Gabriel Arias at second base.
00:31That is not slowing.
00:32He is a placeholder.
00:33That's it.
00:34That's all he is right now.
00:36And if for some reason,
00:37they have to slide him over to third, right?
00:39Because Jose Ramirez misses a month.
00:41Why not just bring up Bozana
00:43and give him a taste of the big leagues and see what happens?
00:45Who knows?
00:46Maybe he gets red hot.
00:47I will know this about Bozana.
00:48This is an Australian kid who paid for his first trip
00:51to see major league baseball by selling big league chew.
00:54Okay?
00:55This kid is a baseball fanatic.
00:57He is unbelievable.
00:58I talked to Jeff Ponce about him from Baseball America.
01:01And the stories he had about Travis Bozana,
01:03who he's got a good relationship with, are just crazy.
01:06He, you know, some of his other teammates in college,
01:08actually, sometimes found him a little grating
01:09because he was so much into the game
01:12and so much into what's going on
01:13that they were just college kids sometimes.
01:15They wanted to have some fun.
01:16And all he wanted to do was win and play baseball.
01:18And that's it.
01:19That's all he was focused on.
01:21And that's going to serve him very well.
01:22So Bozana, another guy to keep in mind.
01:24Now, I don't think that's probably the case
01:26we're looking at,
01:27but it's just an example of how quickly
01:29these things can turn
01:30and some of these kids might get an opportunity
01:32because we saw it happen already just yesterday,
01:34where it could be a scenario presented to itself.
01:37I'm not saying it's going to be,
01:38but Bozana's the guy that I want on my bench
01:40for the second half of the year, if I can hold him.
01:42Yeah, I agree wholeheartedly.
01:44And it all goes back to what we were talking about
01:45with the IL stashes segment.
01:47You really have to understand how to manage your roster,
01:50especially very early.
01:52I find myself going to that waiver wire
01:53multiple times a day and have to say,
01:55Matt, take a minute, all right?
01:56Just because you want to press a button,
01:58just because you want to do something.
02:00There's smart ways to play,
02:01what Joe's talking about here
02:02and with the IL stashes in the previous segment.
02:04Then there's foolish ways to play
02:06because play is something that kids do,
02:08but we're trying to win some grownup money.
02:10Talk to me about some kids
02:11who are going to make up some grownup money.
02:12Who do we have next?
02:14All right, so more kids are going to make up
02:15some grownup money, which we love here.
02:18Kobe Mayo, who was not happy about being sent down.
02:20In fact, he had to apologize for his statements.
02:22And you know what?
02:22You shouldn't apologize, kid.
02:24You're 100% right.
02:25He's got nothing left to prove in the minor leagues.
02:27And then he said, if I go back down to the minor leagues
02:29and I struggle, then everybody says,
02:30oh, what's wrong with this guy?
02:32You know what?
02:33He's right.
02:34Kobe Mayo is right, all right?
02:36I want to just stand up here and say he's 100%.
02:38He shouldn't have to apologize for that
02:40because the Orioles are jerking this kid around.
02:42And they just have a glut of really good infielders.
02:45You have Henderson, you have Westbrook,
02:47you have Jackson Holiday.
02:48There's no room at the end for Kobe Mayo.
02:50So trade him.
02:51You need pitching desperately.
02:52Zach Eflin is not the number one starter on a playoff team.
02:56He's just not, okay?
02:57No offense to Zach Eflin,
02:59but you've got to understand at this point,
03:01you need more in that rotation,
03:03especially Grayson Rodriguez's health
03:04hanging on by a thread.
03:06So Kobe Mayo is that piece to bring you back something.
03:09The longer they wait, the more somebody else,
03:11a bigger market team like the Mets or the Yankees
03:13or the Dodgers are going to swoop in
03:14and take one of those pitchers away from you.
03:16Go get one of them now, if you can.
03:17And Kobe Mayo, I think eventually
03:20is just going to force his hand
03:21either with the Orioles or somewhere else.
03:23So stay tuned with that.
03:25Next one, Jack Caglione, who Matt knows,
03:27another guy that got drafted last year
03:28that I absolutely love.
03:29I love this kid right here.
03:31He got reassigned to minor league camp.
03:33My guess is also he opens the year in double A,
03:36but the way he hit in the minor leagues,
03:38maybe 50 at bats there.
03:39He could even go right to triple A
03:41and the Royals are a team
03:43that is going to be very competitive.
03:44They're going to be in it.
03:45This guy is a legitimate slugger.
03:47I mean, he hits the ball a ton, left-handed bat.
03:50I just, I love this guy.
03:52And I think Caglione is going to be
03:53in that middle of that order.
03:55And what you want to have him do is play first base,
03:57move past Quintino over to DH
03:59and let Sal Perez just catch every day.
04:01And then you give the kid a day off here and there
04:03and let Sal Perez DH.
04:04You just move it all around.
04:06You can get into a shuffle with those three guys,
04:08but having those three bats in that lineup is huge.
04:10And there's one more guy too,
04:12a pitcher and a pitcher on the Cardinals,
04:14right from Matt Stryker's heart.
04:16Quinn Matthews, another guy,
04:17going to start the year in triple A.
04:19It's a matter of time.
04:20That rotation is no good.
04:22I'm sorry.
04:22Quinn Matthews is very good.
04:24Young left-handed pitcher.
04:25Hey, he pitched in the green yesterday.
04:27Look, man, this guy is a young left-handed stud pitcher.
04:31They don't grow on trees.
04:33I think he probably makes a handful of starts,
04:35maybe half a dozen before you see him.
04:37So he is probably, of all these names,
04:39I would say the most immediate.
