00:00Unfortunately, a busy weekend of severe weather.
00:03We begin Saturday night from Des Moines toward Dallas.
00:08We have at least some risk of severe weather, but we're zoning in on that area roughly from
00:13about Kansas City, Missouri to Springfield, Missouri, where we have that moderate risk
00:18where we think there's going to be a clustering of severe thunderstorms.
00:22Now the primary threat is going to be damaging winds and hail, but there's likely to be a
00:26few tornadoes on the ground with this, especially in southeastern parts of Kansas.
00:31The severe weather then ramps up on Sunday.
00:35A very warm air mass will be in place across the central Gulf Coast states all the way
00:40toward the Midwest, where we're going to see high temperatures more typical of late April
00:45into mid-May, and then we have a pretty strong piece of energy that's going to be rotating
00:50through that.
00:51Look for the thunderstorm areas to be pretty expansive, anywhere from Ohio all the way
00:56down toward the central Gulf Coast states, and note the large area moderate risk.
01:02Damaging winds, large hail, also flooding downpours, and I do believe we're going to
01:08see many more tornadoes Sunday afternoon, Sunday night compared with Saturday.
01:12At least a dozen or two tornadoes are likely in that area.
01:18Then the severe weather shifts in toward the East Coast.
01:21Some much-needed rain there, but some gusty winds as well.
01:26And by the way, no rest for the weary.
01:29Next week, we're going to be looking at rounds of severe weather, I'm afraid, during the
01:34middle and latter half of the week from the southern plains toward the Midwest.
