00:09So yesterday, I was proud to lead a forum that shined a light on how Donald Trump is

00:16actively putting cures for cancer, Alzheimer's disease, and so many other illnesses further

00:23out of reach for American families.

00:27At that event yesterday, we heard from Dewey, a 10-year-old who shared with us what it's

00:32like watching his dad battle ALS.

00:37He needed our help so his dad, his hero, could live to watch him graduate from high school.

00:44Dewey begged us to protect the life-saving research being done at the NIH so his dad

00:51could see him walk across that stage and get his diploma.

00:57I say this because when we talk about staffing cuts at our nation's health department, we

01:03aren't just talking about some imaginary person sitting around pushing papers.

01:10We are talking about people who support life-saving research to find cures to ALS or Alzheimer's

01:18disease or cancer, and we're talking about giving hope to kids like Dewey.

01:24But today's announcement goes well beyond finding cures for serious illnesses.

01:30This announcement puts all of our health in jeopardy.

01:34We're talking about more kids getting sick from infectious diseases.

01:40We're talking about less support for seniors who rely on Medicaid and Medicare.

01:46We're even potentially talking about families getting sick from things that they buy at

01:52the grocery store.

01:53The Trump administration is endangering your family to make more room in their budget for

02:00tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations.

02:04They are rigging the system for themselves, and they want Americans to pay for it with

02:09their health and their lives.

02:13Look, I'm on board to make the health department more efficient, but here's where I differ.

02:19I want to make it more efficient for American families.

02:23I want to make it more efficient so that Americans can get better health care for a lower price.

02:31Donald Trump, RFK Jr., and Elon Musk want to gut the health department in service to

02:39themselves.

02:41Here's the simple truth.

02:43If Donald Trump and RFK Jr. were really interested in making Wisconsin families healthier, they'd

02:50join us in fighting to bring down the cost of prescription drugs and lower health care

02:56costs.

02:58And they are not doing that.

03:01Today's announcement, once again, shows that when they say make America healthy again,

03:08what they really mean is to make room in their budget for billionaire and corporate tax breaks.
