00:00A few minutes ago, the President of the United States, President Trump, said nice regards to you as well.
00:04He thinks very fondly of this great country.
00:08He is very committed to the alliance that we have,
00:12the friendship that we have, the cooperation that we have.
00:16He and I both expressed the ironclad commitment that we have
00:20to the mutual defense treaty and to the partnership.
00:24Economically, militarily, which our
00:28staffs have worked on diligently for weeks and weeks and months,
00:32there is a very real reason why our
00:36first trip and our first visit is here to visit you in your great country.
00:40So yes, we will be spending time meeting with you, your defense minister,
00:44your team, but also meeting with a lot of our troops that are here in a
00:48meaningful military-to-military cooperation,
00:52which we have great interest in expanding even more,
00:56where it is mutually beneficial, which is really important, because
01:00as you talked about, peace through strength is a very real thing.
01:04Deterrence is necessary around the world,
01:08but specifically in this region, in your country,
01:12considering the threats from the Communist Chinese,
01:16and that friends need to stand shoulder-to-shoulder to deter conflict,
01:20to ensure that there is free navigation,
01:24whether you call it the South China Sea or the
01:28West Philippine Sea, we recognize that your country
01:32has stood very far in that location and in
01:36defense of your nation. So we are honored to be here, our whole team is honored to be here
01:40to engage in even deeper conversations about partnership
01:44in detail, and thank you for your vision in
01:48being a friend to the United States. We look forward to many more opportunities to work together.
