DOJ on ICC warrant

Justice spokesman Assistant Secretary Mico Clavano tells reporters on March 10, 2025 that his department has not received an arrest warrant against former President Rodrigo Duterte. He said the Philippines is no longer a member of the International Criminal Court, thus it may opt to forgo the usual channels in implementing its orders.

00:00Verify those documents that have come in to the DOJ and as of today, wala pa po tayo na-receive the notice of any warrant that has been issued by the ICC.
00:11Kaya po, sinasabi lang po natin that the government is ready kung sakaling magkaroon po ng warrant of arrest galing sa ICC.
00:20Usually po, kagaya po nang sinabi ni Undersecretary Claire Castro kanina sa kanyang briefing, dahil hindi na po tayo member state, baka hindi po dumaan sa normal process yung pag-serve ng notice sa atin.
00:37Dahil kung member state pa po tayo, the proper process would be to inform either the Office of the President, the DFA, or the DOJ which handles the law enforcement.
00:47So, dahil po hindi na po tayo member, ay pwede naman silang dumiretso sa law enforcement agency, pwede rin silang dumiretso sa third party country na member pa rin ng ICC.
