The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has issued prohibition notices to 158 express buses found not roadworthy during inspections at terminals and depots nationwide ahead of Hari Raya from Monday (March 24) until Friday.

00:00The Malaysian Road Traffic Authority has held a special holiday, Eid al-Fitr, in 2025
00:13across the country, starting on the 24th of March and ending on the 8th of April 2025,
00:21to ensure the safety of the roads, especially during the holiday season, through the strategy
00:27of the authorities as an effort to reduce road accidents.
00:31In addition to that, we are also conducting advocacy campaigns for road safety campaigns
00:37with the cooperation of other agencies.
00:40And today, we are cooperating with the Institute of Integrity of Malaysia to conduct advocacy
00:46campaigns for road safety.
00:49For information, based on the Ops that we have run, the operation that we started on
00:57the 24th of March, for only five days, this operation was completed, the JPJ has issued
01:05a total of 22,552 notices on various violations on vehicles and drivers who failed to comply
01:14with the regulations set at the bottom of the Road Traffic Act 1987 and the following
01:20rules.
01:21The statistics are the results of the inspection of 77,736 vehicles that we have inspected
01:32during the five days of the operation and from that number, 97 vehicles have also been
01:39inspected.
01:41Based on the Ops, the JPJ has inspected vehicles that failed to comply with the rules
01:49set as follows.
01:51Motorcycles have 6,822 vehicles, lorries have 6,626 vehicles, motorcars for cars 5,918,
02:03public transport vehicles 1,543, other vehicles 1,388 and foreign vehicles have 255.
02:13According to the JPJ P22 notice issued by the JPJ, there are vehicles and drivers who
02:21still fail to comply with the rules set based on the main violations as follows.
02:29We have seen 7 main violations during this operation.
02:35The first is a violation related to the LKM vehicle license that expired or did not have
02:41insurance protection for 5,850, a violation related to the driver's license, there is
02:47no driving license and the driving license expired for 4,148, technical errors such as
02:56motorcycle brake, car tire and so on, that is 3,035, other errors 2,346, a violation
03:06related to the 2011 goods vehicle, a violation related to the public transport vehicle 1,800.
03:14Throughout the operation, the Ops was also carried out through an inspection on the
03:20public transport vehicle, that is the bus.
03:22The JPJ has inspected as many as 1,800 buses have committed various violations involving
03:29vehicles and drivers, including using cell phones while driving.
03:35There is no second driver and other errors.
03:39And for this year too, the JPJ continues the strategy of enforcing the prohibition of
03:45JPJ members in the bus, where we place our members as bus passengers in the bus and
03:55we detect drivers making mistakes when driving the bus for the duration of the Ops
04:05this Eid.
04:06And we detect as many as 398 public transport vehicles, namely this bus, which has committed
04:15a violation.
04:16So the JPJ wants to remind the owners and drivers of goods vehicles, throughout the
04:23celebration of Eid al-Fitr this year, the prohibition of driving on goods vehicles, road
04:29vans, will begin to be enforced for four days, namely on 29 and 30 March.
04:36Tomorrow, 29 and then 30 March before Eid, as well as on 5 and 6 April 2025 after Eid.
04:49In conjunction with Eid al-Fitr this year, the JPJ wants to advise road users to always
04:56follow the rules of the road and users need to ensure that their vehicles have been properly
05:03maintained and safe, as well as plan the journey to the destination.
