00:00She was born in Mexico and she was raised in Brownsville, Texas, and she's a photographer
00:09whose work explores themes of joy and culture and belonging.
00:16Much of Hannah's work today is a reflection of her own search of belonging, and it's a
00:21fusion of Mexican and American experiences.
00:25And so she has so much pride in her work, and it's just such an honor to be able to
00:36work with her in the times that I have worked with her.
00:39She is very, she wants to stay connected to her roots and showcase that, and I think it's
00:47very beautiful.
00:49She has built this career for herself, and I mean, she deserves all the recognition in
00:58her hard work and her continuous effort to showcase our culture and our love for our
01:05people.
01:08She has really trailblazed everything, and she's just so wonderful, truly.
01:20We met at the latter part of COVID, and it was just one of those moments of just being
01:27in the right place, right time, and we connected through social media and a mutual makeup artist.
01:37She really has this vision, and it's beautiful just getting to work with her.
01:42It's so fun, it's just always a blast, and just seeing her mood boards, you definitely
01:51see the culture in it.
01:55The way that I show up for my community or my culture, it's very much in, I always go
02:03back to my grandma.
02:05There's so much of her that lives with me, especially, she always told me, you always
02:11have to wear earrings, you always have to wear a necklace, and you always have to wear
02:13rings, and you always have to wear your lipstick.
02:16That was always something that she taught me.
02:19Then when I was younger, I was like, no, I don't want that.
02:22Now that I'm older, I always have, these are my grandma's hoops.
02:28It's always something, especially in our food.
02:31I'm a big foodie, and so we, my sister, she, when my grandma was, in her last few months,
02:42she sat down with her and she made a recipe book, and that's something we always go back
02:48to.
02:49I see power in raising awareness for things that you're passionate about, and shedding
02:56light to other people to share their voices.
03:01I also think power, there's a lot of power in vulnerability and sharing all of our stories
03:06and our struggles.
03:09There's so many, I feel like there's so many different definitions for power, and it meets
03:15a little bit of something different to everybody.
