While speaking on the House Floor Thursday, Rep. Dave Min (D-CA) discussed how DOGE's proposed cuts towards funding for PBS and NPR are 'hypocritical' as the government recently gave out billion dollar contracts to Elon Musk's Tesla.

00:00Unanimous consent to address the House for one minute and to revise and extend my remarks.
00:04Without objection, the gentleman is recognized for one minute.
00:07Elon Musk spent $277 million supporting Donald Trump's campaign last year.
00:12And in return, Trump has done all he can to support Musk's business ventures, awarding
00:16billions in potential contracts to Tesla and SpaceX.
00:20Trump even turned the White House lawn into a Tesla showroom to try to boost Tesla sales.
00:25Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, whose investment firm owns hundreds of millions in Tesla stocks,
00:29went on national TV to try to increase Tesla's sagging stock price.
00:34And our own colleague, Ms. Taylor Greene, spent thousands of dollars buying Tesla stock
00:38this year and then tried to weaponize the DOJ to help increase Tesla sales.
00:43This is all blatantly unethical and much of it is illegal.
00:46At the same time, Ms. Greene's Doge subcommittee, following the example of Elon Musk in February,
00:51is calling for the defunding of NPR and PBS.
00:54Yes, Elon and Marjorie Taylor Greene are trying to kill Elmo.
00:58But here's the thing, public broadcasting receives just a tiny fraction of funding compared
01:02to the government contracts Elon stands to gain.
01:05In fact, if you take away the new military contract for Cybertrucks alone, you'd pay
01:09for all of PBS and NPR.
01:11And unlike Cybertrucks, PBS and NPR won't get recalled because they're falling apart.
01:17What is happening right now is a pure bait and switch.
01:20Republicans are trying to slash Medicaid and public schools and programs like PBS so they
01:24can give billions to Elon Musk and his fellow oligarchs.
01:27The corruption we're seeing right now is outrageous, unprecedented, and cannot stand.
01:31I yield back.
