00:00The Department of Agriculture's target is to build a mega food hub in the next three years.
00:05Not only will it be able to meet the high or low supply and price of agricultural products.
00:12This is Belle Custodio in the center of the news.
00:16President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. helped Department of Agriculture Secretary Francisco T. Lorel Jr.
00:23to discuss some projects for the next three years.
00:27His first target is to build mega food hubs.
00:31There are a lot of volumes from vegetables to meat, everything agricultural produce that is traded every day.
00:40And then around this, there are cold storages and all support infrastructures.
00:47This will help to meet the high or low supply and price of agricultural products
00:53and to avoid incidents such as thrown tomatoes.
00:57The president initially agreed on these concepts.
01:01One will be placed in Clark, another one will be placed in Quezon province.
01:09Clark will serve North Luzon and then Quezon will serve Southern Tagalog plus Bicol.
01:17And then there will be also some sort of similar projects in Luzon, in Visayas and Mindanao.
01:23The DA based its concept on their visit to Thailand last month.
01:28They allocated P3.75 billion in the budget for this, which is also possible to start in the next year.
01:34Aside from this, the DA also allocated the next projects.
01:38There will be a pipe irrigation network system, P25 billion.
01:42There will be waterways, just like what is being done in Vietnam.
01:47There will be a white revolution for the construction of greenhouses
01:52so that we can also use our fertigation and drip irrigation
01:58and then the massive replanting for coconut, among others.
02:02These projects are in line with the president's vision for food security.
02:06Ven Custodio, for Pambansang TV in Bagong, Philippines.
