00:00Come on, man. You gotta move forward. You can't keep clinging to your past.
00:04Here's your look at the Mattel He-Man and the Master Universe Leech, evil master of power suction.
00:19This Master Universe Origins Leech action figure from the Cartoon Collection is inspired by the original He-Man and the Master Universe TV episodes from the 80s.
00:26The amphibian-like member of the evil horde is designed with a vintage look at 5.5-inch scale, but with the modern posability of 16 movable joints.
00:33This MOTU toy of Leech and his blaster accessory are inspired by Into Eternia episode.
00:38A mini-comic is included for story context of the creature that sucks the life out of his foes.
00:43I have a feeling this guy moves pretty fast on relationships. You meet him for the first time and he already wants to suck face.
00:48Let's not suck face, please, anybody in this room. Let's take instead the tape measure and see how tall the brand new Cartoon Collection Leech actually is.
00:55He's not going to be using as much of the mold of the original Leech as you may think, and we'll see that in a second.
01:00In the meantime, though, Leech is going to stand at 6 inches in height, where the figure is going to be about 15 centimeters tall.
01:05Seeing as he is a Horde member and all, let's bring in Hordak.
01:08Hordak was a good-looking figure. I just wish, though, he had came in clue with his swappable, changeable arm.
01:12Here's also what the figure looks like with Mantenna, and seeing as, of course, we are talking about Leech after all, here's what he looks like with his Origins version.
01:19What does Leech come with, Magic Storyteller?
01:21Well, first, the figure does come in clue with a paper pamphlet.
01:24The pamphlet is just to tell you that everything in gray can be popped, can be swapped out with other Cartoon Collection figures.
01:29I think also, too, the pegs work also universally with the Origins figures, too.
01:33So if you want to use these arms with the other Leech, I'm sure you could do that. I haven't actually tried that yet.
01:38Let's fold up the pamphlet.
01:40Off to the recycling.
01:42Well, it missed the recycling, but it's going to go into the recycling shortly.
01:45The one other thing that also comes included with Leech is Onslaught of Snake Mountain.
01:49The mini-comic, though, is also the same mini-comic that's also going to be featured with these other two characters while we are looking at Leech in this review.
01:55Faker, which basically is just a recasting of He-Man with now glowing eyes.
01:58Blue Faker doesn't exist in the cartoon universe, yet glowing eyes robot Faker He-Man does.
02:03Down below, as well, there's Catra.
02:05You know, speaking of Catra, why are we so against the idea of drawing her pretty?
02:09I mean, look at the bags underneath her eyes.
02:11I don't know if she's gotten much in the way of a cat nap.
02:13Speaking of which, though, I think the Catra is also going to come in clue with a little cat version of her.
02:17That's pretty cool.
02:18Flipping, though, quickly through the comics.
02:20I'm not going to spend a whole lot of time discussing this, but we have Hordak here riding his steed.
02:24A lot of cool characters going on in here, as well.
02:26There's Rheoblast.
02:27I don't know if we're going to be getting a cartoon collection Rheoblast.
02:29I know we are getting, obviously.
02:30There's that Mattel Origins Rheoblast, which is just between you and me.
02:34Don't tell anybody else what I'm going to do.
02:35We're going to be looking at him this week.
02:37Shh.
02:38Let's put the mini-comic, though, off to the side.
02:40But, again, like, why does she have to look so old?
02:43Anyways.
02:45The figure for his one accessory, I suppose you could say is an episode-specific accessory.
02:50It's the Into Etheria.
02:52Now, this is the blaster that we see Adora actually carrying around with her.
02:56One thing that's interesting, though, the way they handled the blaster is that you can either have, say, like an Adora,
03:01which we don't actually have a cartoon collection of her just yet.
03:04We have a She-Ra.
03:05But back when she was at least a bad guy, you could actually have put this in the handle of one of the figures.
03:10But if you want to obviously put it on Leech, how would you put it in Leech's hands?
03:13The figure doesn't have any.
03:14Well, what you could do is you can take the handle and you can fold it in, just like that.
03:18Now you can take that episode blaster and you basically will just clip it onto his wrist, just like that.
03:24And I love the idea that they made it with a collapsible handle.
03:27So if you, yeah, did want to have it displayed with Leech, you can easily do that.
03:31I don't really think I have any plans to display that.
03:33Although, when we do eventually get ourselves Adora, fingers crossed, hopefully we do,
03:37I'm probably going to have that character displayed with this blaster because, again, it's pulled from that episode.
03:42It looks pretty good, too.
03:43Kind of has a little bit of marbling there, but because at least it's made of metal, obviously it's made of plastic,
03:48but because it's made of metal, at least in the episodes,
03:50I could get away with at least the idea that it has a lot more marbling than just a regular...
03:54Like if it was on a character's arm, for example, and that was his skin,
03:57I'd be a little bit more miffed at the idea that there's so much marbling happened here in the plastic.
04:01Spending too much time talking about the blaster? I agree.
04:04Let's put that off to the side.
04:05So getting though a closer look at Leech, who happens to also appear into a theory episode.
04:10The thing about it, though, he appears so quickly.
04:12He basically just leeches his hands around.
04:14I can't even remember the character that he does this to.
04:16And he basically just wanted to extract her energy.
04:19The one thing, though, about Leech is that in the episode, he does also have regular hands.
04:23Now, they chose not to give him regular hands.
04:25I kind of wish that they could have also included that as well as an additional accessory.
04:28I know, I know.
04:29It probably would have been a lot difficult to remove the hands.
04:32Although, to be fair, though, hold on a second, hold on a second.
04:35Origins technically did the same as well.
04:37You could have swapped out the hands and changed them out for the suction cup hands.
04:41I just usually have the figure displayed with this like that.
04:44Yeah, if you wanted to, I guess technically you could take off the suction cup hands.
04:48They're basically just plugged in place like that.
04:50And for all intents and purposes, Mattel could have just included the regular hands for Leech.
04:55I think most people probably would tend to display Leech anyways with his suction cup hands.
04:59He happens to have it, though, on his hands.
05:00He has it down below on his feet.
05:03Now, the thing, unfortunately, though, about Leech goes with the territory of having him with suction cup feet.
05:07Is that the figure is going to have a little more tough time to stick on a shelf.
05:10Now, you could go what most kids would have done in the 80s when you had something you guys stick to a wall.
05:15I'm sure most people do that as well.
05:16They go, ah, ah, ah.
05:18They basically just breathe onto the suction cup and stick it onto the window that way.
05:22If you were a kid, some people probably still do this now.
05:24You could just lick the ends of that and stick it on the wall that way.
05:28Because I don't like to tend to lick my figures.
05:31Stop that. Stop that.
05:32I'm just going to try to do my best to balance this guy on the shelf.
05:35He's going to have a little bit more of a harder time to balance, though.
05:38So what I might just end up doing is having him leaning against other Horde members.
05:42For the head sculpt, though, it's pretty cartoon accurate, I would say.
05:45He doesn't have, obviously, the big suction cup face like this guy does have.
05:49But he does look very much like the part.
05:51I like the coloring that they gave for this guy.
05:53It's kind of this, I don't know, like greenish blue tints.
05:56It's got some nice teeth there sculpted on the top and on the bottom.
05:59Got big large red eyes.
06:00Those look nice as well.
06:01And then for down below, of course, he has his regular Horde torso piece.
06:05Which really isn't that much different from the Origins version.
06:08The arms, again, match the same coloring as the face.
06:10So does down below here on the legs.
06:12The suction cups, again, I wish there was one way that they could have maybe given a swappable option for those legs.
06:18But I know most people, when they tend to think of Leech, they tend to think of...
06:21No. No. Stop that. Stop that. Don't lick those.
06:24For the figure's articulation, though, Leech's head is going to be on a ball joint.
06:28So it allows the head to rotate all the way around.
06:30Could it look up? It could look up.
06:31Could it look down? Yes. Yes, it can.
06:33And it can also rock back and forth as well.
06:36For the arms, they do rotate all the way around.
06:38They rotate all the way around.
06:40You can also hinge them out about 90 degrees.
06:43There's a single hinge only in the elbow.
06:45But, hey, you know, that single hinge does allow this form to rotate back and forth.
06:49And because of the way, also, that the hands plug in place.
06:51Which I think, though...
06:52Where's my little paper pamphlet?
06:54Here I am throwing these things away.
06:56Does the paper pamphlet...
06:58Well, it does have, like, the arms showing that they're swappable.
07:01But it doesn't actually show...
07:02I mean, technically, the hands are also in gray, too.
07:04So those could be swapped out because there's also little dots next to it.
07:07Ooh, those little pins stuck in his body.
07:09Ouch.
07:10But, yeah, if you wanted to, let's bring in the other Leech here.
07:13Just to show you guys.
07:14Take off the arms. There we go.
07:16Take off the arms here for Origins Leech.
07:18And does it work? Yes, Virginia.
07:20There is a Santa Claus.
07:21You can plug those easily in place.
07:24Plug this back in place.
07:26There we go.
07:27He has a waist swivel.
07:28He has legs splitting via the ball joint action working behind the scenes.
07:32Legs, in fact, go forward. They move back.
07:34He has a single hinge in the knee.
07:36It rotates back and forth.
07:37The feet as well, where the boot would normally be, rotates also all the way around.
07:41And technically, technically, you could say that these swivel as well.
07:44They did somewhat suggest the idea that he also has toesies.
07:48And he also has thumbsies and fingersies.
07:50Stop that.
07:51So the figure does have some sculpted-in digits.
07:55Although, again, I kind of wish that this figure could also come included with swappable hands.
07:58Is that asking too much?
07:59Maybe it is asking too much.
08:01One thing, again, already stating the obvious is that this guy is going to have a harder time to stand.
08:05I mean, you could lick the bottom of these.
08:08But I, so far, haven't had any times where I've had to lick the bottoms of the figures.
08:12I'm not going to be starting that any time now.
08:14Leech is, yeah, going to still have the same issues of balancing.
08:17But, you know, again, like if you have him displayed with the rest of his Horde brethren,
08:20I suppose you probably could have the figure displayed.
08:22Why am I having now, again, such a hard time getting this guy to stand?
08:26I mean, technically, also, I have this guy having...
08:28Most of the time when I have Leech standing on the shelf,
08:31I have this guy basically just leaning against Hordak.
08:34I just even do the same here with the cartoon collection of Leech.
08:37Yeah, it's a good-looking figure.
08:38It's going to have still the same problems that face any time you get yourself a character like Leech.
08:42If he's not going to have swappable feet,
08:44then he's going to always have an issue of standing straight and not falling over,
08:48which it looks like he's almost about to fall over.
08:50So let's jump right to the turntable.
08:52Got to the turntable just in the nick of time.
08:54But how much time does this guy now have?
08:56I'm going to have to rush this along.
08:57It was Glimmer, by the way.
08:58Glimmer was the character I was trying to think of that Leech was sucking out her soul.
09:02Also did that with Bow as well.
09:03Leech only just appears for like a blink-and-you-miss-it sort of moment.
09:07No, that's not true.
09:08He's in it just enough that you recognize that the character is there,
09:10along with all the other cronies of Hordak.
09:12Funny, though, enough that Adora is still part of that before she switches sides to the Rebellion.
09:16The accessory that he includes, though, is one of the weapons that we see her carrying around.
09:21She actually, I think, shoots either at He-Man,
09:23and He-Man's deflecting it off with his sword.
09:25So at least it's something you could say has appeared in an episode.
09:28It's certainly, though, a little bit more interesting
09:30than some of the other episode-specific accessories we've gotten in the past.
09:33Leech looks the part.
09:35I mean, from a color standpoint of the cartoon, he looks very much like he does.
09:38The thing that still bothers me is always going to be a problem that's going to be facing any Leech figures.
09:42Suction cup hands is one thing.
09:44When you get suction cup feet,
09:46it causes just a nightmare of getting this guy always to stand properly.
09:49It's only just by a pure miracle alone that this guy is right now standing on this rotating rotisserie.
09:54But again, I do like the look of Leech quite a lot,
09:57and obviously if a character like this is going to appear in the episodes,
09:59I'm glad to see that Mattel finally released him.
10:01What do you guys think of Leech?
10:03Let me know down below.
10:05Do you like the look of the figure?
10:07Or is this one that maybe you're not even collecting in the cartoon collection,
10:10and you're sticking solely to Origins?
10:12Let me know if you are still collecting both the Origins line,
10:14and as well the cartoon collection,
10:16and which version of Leech do you like a little bit more?
10:18If you guys also did enjoy this video, you can do it us all and throw it a like.
10:21If you guys want to stick around for more so,
10:23oh, did he start to move?
10:24I think we're okay.
10:25If you certainly like this, stick around for more so,
10:27and I hope so, hit that subscribe, turn on that bell,
10:30and of course, come back.
10:31As always, thanks for watching.
10:33See you guys next time.
10:42you
