00:00A municipality or town in Maguindanao del Norte has been rocked by an act of election-related violence

00:06with the prevailing conditions and tribalistic climate among candidates.

00:10The poll body is left with no option but to take charge and control the status quo, as our Luisa Erispe reports.

00:19An election officer in Dato Odin, Sisuat, Attorney Maceda Abo, was shot to death,

00:25along with her husband, Jojo Abo, this morning of March 26, 2025.

00:30Based on this video, her husband is still seen lying inside an SUV, seated on the driver's side.

00:37Due to this incident, the Kamalak will recommend to put Dato Odin, Sisuat, under Kamalak control.

00:44I will recommend to the Commission and Bank to put Dato Odin, Sisuat, under Kamalak control.

00:50In Kamalak's defense, this is not a rushed or hasty decision,

00:54as these election-related acts of violence happened in the area several times.

00:59And most importantly, this happened after the Peace Covenant,

01:03where the local government signed and promised a peaceful campaign and elections.

01:08At this point, what will be the conclusion of Kamalak if it's not election-related violence?

01:15This happened in the area where we had a peaceful campaign,

01:20to test the power of the Commission on Elections and the length of our patience with these things.

01:27The Paul Buddy plans to take control of the locality before campaign starts on Friday.

01:32They are already coordinating with the Armed Forces of the Philippines

01:35and the Philippine National Police for the support and backup.

01:39These past weeks and months have been full of violence in that area.

01:44That's why I think it's only right to put it under Kamalak control.

01:48We are telling our Kamalak officials or employees not to call,

01:53we are telling the voters not to call,

01:57as they will be hurt, threatened, or terrorized

02:00because Kamalak will not allow such things.
